ERIE 3, HOLY FAMILY 2

Clouds, plus some wind, made for a chilly day at Erie High School. A top 4A matchup between Erie and Holy Family. Holy Family and Erie were scoreless until 2024 OF Colton Rowan, Erie HS (Uncommitted) hit a line drive to right field to score two in the second inning. Holy Family responded in the top of the third with a double by 2024 2B Cole Kuszak, Holy Family HS (Uncommitted) down the third base line to score one. Creates separation. Compact swing with quick hands.

Then, 2022 3B Jared Delgado, Holy Family HS (Antelope Valley College commit) hit a single to drive in Cole. The game stayed tied at 2 till the 5th when 2025 C Varek Van Aelstyn, Erie HS (Uncommitted) got his second single of the day through the 5/6 hole to drive in the eventual game winning run. Balanced swing with a middle of the field approach. Quick hands. The game ended on an outstanding jumping catch by 2025 2B Taylor McMaster, Erie HS (Uncommitted) which he turned into a double play when he caught the runner at first too far off the base for the force out.

2024 RHP Kaveh Meredith, Erie HS (Uncommitted) had a good day on the mound going 6.0IP, 4K’s, and 2H. Found his rhythm after the first when he went from the stretch only and kept hitters off balance. FB was 76-79, 81T. CB 65-66, 12-6 that dropped late. CH 72-74 and tails. Has a repeatable delivery and a good arm action in the ¾ slot.

2022 RHP/OF Dillon Dahlgren, Holy Family (Uncommitted) had 6.0 IP, 4K’s, 5H, and 3BB on the day. His fastball had late and sharp ASR. CB was 12-6 with depth. CH dropped late but was used rarely. ¾ arm slot. Last time we saw Dillion at our Colorado Top Prospect Games he was at 80mph on his FB and was 65mph on his CB.

BROOMFIELD 5, LEGACY 2

Legacy saw their 16-game winning streak come to an end in a rivalry matchup against Broomfield. Great high school environment with a rowdy crowd saw Broomfield jump to an 1st inning lead. 2022 C Camden Ross, Broomfield (Wabash JC) turned around a FB for a 2-run HR. Ross continues a spectacular senior campaign, now hitting .661, with 37 hits and 30 RBI’s. His 6th home run demonstrated his great timing, quick hands and explosive rotational acceleration. He continues to show great leadership behind the plate with great receiving skills. His pop time is consistently in the 1.90-2.00 range.

His battery mate was 2022 RHP Garrett Klein, Broomfield, (Cameron University). Klein threw a 7-inning complete game, giving up 5 hits, 1BB, 4K’s on an efficient 96 pitch effort. Klein used a mix of FB/CT/CH that created high percentage of ground balls. FB ranged from 84-86 and he located it in/out and up/down the strike zone. His cutter 80-82 had plus action and got off barrels all day. CH 75-76 was rare. Klein’s delivery was repeatable with great tempo. He showed a competitive edge and leadership.

Legacy was limited to 2 runs on just 5 hits. The bright spot for legacy is the continued rise of 2023 MIF Brandon Sanchez, Legacy (Uncommitted). The gritty and clutch leadoff hitter is hitting at a .603 clip with a team leading 32RBI’s. He shows patience and discipline with 15BB’s and only 3K’s. Sanchez stays focused with a middle of the field approach and ability to take extra bases. He finds the barrel consistently against FB and OS. Would consider Brandon Sanchez as one of the top uncommitted players in Colorado’s 2023 Class.

LEGEND 5, DOUGLAS COUNTY 1

This one promised to be a good matchup as 2023 RHP Max Stanley (Douglas County, Wichita State Commit) faced off against his former HS Legend. On the hill for Legend was 2023 RHP Reese Wagner (Legend HS, Uncommitted), making this a premier matchup with big time arms. Legend ended up breaking through in top of the 4th with a 3-run inning and tacked on two more as the game progressed. Douglas County’s offense (crippled by injury with four starters out) didn’t show much life throughout the contest.

2023 RHP Max Stanley - Douglas County (Wichita State commit) - showcased a FB with slight ASR at times sitting 90-91, T92. He relied heavily on a cutter that sat at 85 on both sides of the plate, and showed poise and more competitiveness in the zone than earlier in the season. Delivery also shows sign of progression with less spine tilt that will lead to more repeatable mechanics and a more consistent arm slot.

Final line - 4IP 5H 3ER 3BB 7K

2023 RHP Reese Wagner - Legend (Uncommitted) - Wagner was 88-90 all outing with the fastball, and relied heavily on the slider that was anywhere from 72-77. Wagner struggled with the zone at times, but showed a competitive attitude and was able to work out of traffic by heavily utilizing the slider. Surprised he is still uncommitted, but he has the chance to be special if he can control the zone a little bit better.

Final Line - 3.1IP 4H 1ER 5BB 5K

2022 INF/OF Ty Kennedy - Legend (Washington State) - Ty once again had the big hit in the top of the fourth inning for Legend, staying on a Max Stanley breaking ball well and driving it to right-center field for a RBI double. Ty’s ability to stay on breaking balls and use the whole field while having the bat speed to combat 91mph on the inner half is extremely impressive. Couple that with the fact that he can flat out fly, and you have one of the best ballplayers in the state.

2023 LHP Dom Cristinzio - Legend (Uncommitted) - Helped to shut down the game out of the bullpen for Legend. Dom featured an over the top FB at 79-81mph and a CB 68-71mph. Cristinzio was put into a tough spot and ended up getting a huge double play ball to end the DC 4th with a zero despite coming in with the bases loaded and one out. Cristinzo continues to progress and the funky delivery seems to miss most barrels.

Final line - 1.2IP 1H 0ER 3BB 2K’s
