Northern colorado preseason id - 2023 preview

The 2022 showcase season is finally upon us and despite some frigid temperatures, you can finally start to feel baseball in the air. We have a pair of Preseason ID's coming up later this month, followed by the Super 60 National Pro Showcase with a pair of Colorado representatives in February and then we cap off the month with the Preseason All-State 'Invite Only' event.

We're going to see hundreds of players over the next two months and we're going to take a look at four of those that we will be seeing later this month at the Northern Colorado Preseason ID. Below, we highlight four uncommitted 2023s who our staff is eager to get eyes on.

Mason Bright RHP / OF / Severance , CO / 2023

At 6-foot-2,  195-pounds, Mason has a broad, strong build. We last saw his fastball sit in the 85-88 range last April and have seen him up to 90. There’s great armside run with a high ¾ release. Slider works well off of release point at 72-74 mph with late break. Continues to show gradual growth in velo and pitch development. Currently ranked No. 32 in the 2023 class, we’re looking forward to seeing Bright later this month.

Colin Carlson 2B / SS / Erie, CO / 2023

Carlson is a middle infielder with the actions and footwork to stick up the middle and the right-handed bat has continued to develop over the years. There’s athletic movements all over his game and our staff is interested to see where Carlson’s game is at entering his junior season.

Ethan Dillinger LHP / Erie, CO / 2023

Dillinger is a growing lefty with long levers. He has a high leg lift with a balanced coil.  Dillinger repeats his delivery with good tempo each time. It’s a high ¾ release with a fastball that tops out at 79.7 with a range of 75-79. Slider sits 63-64 with +spin at 2564. He also locates a changeup 65-69. Strength needed in his game but there’s lots of potential. Another intriguing 2023 we look forward to seeing on the mound.

David Pisano 1B / RHP / Fossil Ridge , CO / 2023

We last had Pisano at an event in the Fall of 2020 and he showed some intriguing tools on both sides of the ball. It’s a balanced swing from the right side where there’s raw strength and a peak exit velocity of 91.2. His fastball also peaked at 77 mph and it will be interesting to see where those numbers are at later this month.
