PBR Colorado Spotlight Game: Arapahoe vs. Cherokee Trail

Aurora, CO - Cherokee Trail (4-3) defeated Arapahoe (4-4) 5-4

Continuing in Centennial League play, the Arapahoe Warriors and Cherokee Trail played a great game which the Cougars would have to rally in the bottom of the 7th to win 5-4. The game started out as a pitching duel between Warriors No. 49 2016 RHP Desmond Pineda and newcomer 2017 LHP Conner Nantkes. No one scored until the top of the 3rd inning when the Warriors plated the first run across with a single by 2015 Jack Berning, and then he was driven in by 2016 Jacob Goodman. The Cougars would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2-run double by 2015 1B Nick Leisge. The fourth went scoreless, then in the top of the 5th Nantkes got two quick outs, but then 2016 Clay Hanson hit a triple, and Jacob Goodman drove him in with a double. In the same inning Nantkes  would load the bases with two walks and No. 7 2017 SS Jacob Hilton hit a 2-run single to take a 4-2 lead. Pineda was still sharp in the 5th pitching a 1-2-3 inning. In the bottom of the 6th the Cougars would plate one more against Pineda cutting the lead to 4-3. 2015 LHP Keven McIntosh pitched a scoreless 7th in relief of Nantkes. In the bottom of the 7th 2016 Matt Meraz reached on an error, and after he was bunted over to 2nd Connor Nantkes drove him in to tie the game. Leisge would follow with with a single. With 1 out 2017 Nick Perez would squeeze home Nantkes for the winning run.
