X-FACTOR:
The Trojans have 6 pitchers on the staff, but no proven starters. If they can learn fast, Longmont will be back in the playoff pitcher race.

NEW PLAYER TO WATCH:
Avery Peterson, SS, 2018, 5-11, 170 pounds, R/R: Very good Freshman. Started first summer with team as varsity SS and hit .390 with 11 doubles, 6 triples, 1 HR, .479 OB, 1.089 OPS, .394 RISP. Led summer team in all those categories.

KEY PLAYERS LOST:
Andrew Bladt: Marshall

STAT RAT:
If you combine last spring and summer, 2016 centerfielder and leadoff hitter Cooper Roth stole 42 bases and was only caught 3 times.

BOTTOM LINE:
The Longmont Trojans made it to the 4A Semifinals but ran into a buzz saw Green Mountain Rams team who would eventually win the 4A state championship. Under longtime coach Tom Fobes, the Trojans have always been a program that gets the most out of the talent they have. 2015 RHP Barrett Ingvaldsen returns to the mound. He throws a mid 80's fastball combined with a good curveball and a developing slider. Last year Ingvaldsen worked out of the pen but this year will have to step up and be a starter. 2016 OF Cooper Roth will be the Trojans leadoff hitter. Has good speed and has been a starter since his freshman year. 2016 2B/C Mason Peterson is a solid hitter from left side. Caught last year but probably will play 2B this spring. 2016 Miguel Moroyoqui will be the crafty left handed pitcher every staff needs, and 2016 Kavan Andrew is another player who has speed on the bases, and can play SS, 2B, and 3B. 2017 RHP Dagin Renck could see some quality innings on the mound. His fastball is developing into a mid 80's fastball, and as stated above, 2018 Avery Peterson had a fantastic summer in 2014 and will be getting some at bats in 2015. Last year the Trojans team E.R.A. was 5.50, so they did give up runs. This year if the new staff can just match that you can expect the Trojans wit their core group of juniors to make another deep 4A playoff run.
