Q&A with Underclass Invitational Participant Collin Cushenbery

Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running in 2016 with two major events. The Underclass Invitational event at Slammers South will take take place on January 31st. Over the coming weeks, PBR Colorado will introduce you to 2018 and 2019 players who have committed to this event. Continuing our look is 2019, C/OF, Collin Cushenbery from Regis Jesuit High School.

PBR: Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Cushenbery: I am a catcher and outfielder. I am a hard line drive hitter in usually 2-6 hitting spot.

PBR: What would be your dream school to play baseball at? If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Cushenbery:My dream schools are Oklahoma and Air Force.

PBR: What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Cushenbery:I am good in the classroom and on and off the field I am a good leader.

PBR: What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career? Cushenbery:The best baseball advice that has been given to me is how to really increase my bat speed, and my offense swing improvements. For catcher, ways that I can improve my pop time has been really helpful.

PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?
Cushenbery:Currently I am playing basketball to stay in shape, working out 5 days a week, and doing armband workouts everyday. I am doing small practices with my spring and summer team as well.

PBR: What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Cushenbery:My superstitions are to never cross the bats, never talk about a pitchers no hitter and if I have a bad game, I shave the following night.

PBR: What are your goals for:

This Season: Make JV for my High School and be the starting catcher.

Two Years: Be a starter on varsity and have a good idea about where I want to go to college and be recruited.

Four Years: Get a scholarship for college and commit.
