Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running in 2016 with two major events.  The Underclass Invitational event at Slammers South will take take place on January 31st. Over the coming weeks, PBR Colorado will introduce you to 2018 and 2019 players who have committed to this event.  Continuing our look is No. 4 2018, Luke Ziegler of Valor Christian High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Ziegler:  I am primarily a third basemen and pitcher but can be put anywhere on the diamond other than catcher. Great teammate and never let my emotions get to me.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?  If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Ziegler:  Pepperdine. They have a beautiful campus, I love the West Coast Conference, and they have a really great coaching staff.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Ziegler:  One of my greatest assets on the field is I have a very competitive edge. I hate to lose but at the same time know how to bounce back from failure.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?
Ziegler:  Keep a steady attitude. You can't get too high and can't get too low with your emotions. You have to stay poised.

PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?
Ziegler:  Played on the Rockies Junior Scout team and Slammers. Ran and lifted 4 times a week in the fall and will be running and lifting 2-3 times a week in the winter/spring. Trying to gain weight and keep my arm healthy.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Ziegler:  I do not have any superstitions.

PBR:  What are your goals for:
This season: Help Valor win a state championship. Make all state. Improve my velocity and command from the mound. Hit above .350.

Two years: Continue to play well in high school ball. Commit to a D1 college for baseball. Hit above .400 my junior and senior years. Make all state my junior and senior years.

Four years: Be playing college baseball at a D1 school.
