Rocky Mountain Defeats Fairview 10-0

By PBR Staff

FORT COLLINS - The Fairview Knights traveled to Rocky Mountain on Thursday for an important 5A Front Range League game. On the mound was Yale commit LHP Matt Erickson for Fairview matching up against Kansas State commit RHP John Sorenson of Rocky Mountain. The Lobos have been on a mission since coming back from USA Baseball's highly prestigious NHS tournament 0-4, and have been 5-1 in Colorado since. The trend continued on Thursday with a 10-0 victory in a game that was finished within an hour.

The Lobos took advantage of Erickson's early command issues, and jumped out 4-0 after two innings, highlighted by a 2-out single with the bases loaded from senior 1B Spencer Gendreau (Scottsdale CC).

The game would settle down until the bottom of the 4th when the Lobos would explode for 5 runs, highlighted by a 3-run from senior Trenton Medrano  which put the Lobos up 9-0.

Sorenson was dominant in this game. Sorenson would only give up 1 hit which was a bunt single while striking out 9 in 5 innings.

The win would be the 6th straight for the Lobos improving their record to 6-4, with a league record of 6-1. The Knights would fall to 8-4, and dropped their league record to 4-2. Up next for the Lobos is an away game at Fossil Ridge on Saturday Saturday 4-22. The Knights play on the same day with a home game against Horizon.
