The Prep Baseball Report’s 2018 Senior Games took place on July 25th and 26th at Metropolitan State College. Strong talent was on display in the first year of the event. 2018 Seniors showed up for the two day event that featured both a pro-style workout and games each day.

Today we start the breakdown of players starting with the corners. Players are listed in alphabetical order. 

Landon Faber, 1B/3B, Chatfield
6-foot-2, 190 pounds. Bats left, throws right. Starts with an open stance and closes down with soft medium stride. Waggle before minimal load. Bat stays in hitting zone with level swing and good extension and lower half works well. Showed solid gap to gap power in live hitting round. 85 mph exit velo off a tee. Athletic actions and good feet at 1B. 68 mph arm velo to 2B. Good body and frame. 

Gunnar Foegen, 3B, RHP, Grandview
6-foot-1, 185 pounds. Bats and throws right. Athletic build. At the plate utilizes an open stance, leg kick stride. Loads down and up and has loose hands through the zone. Lower half works well. Shows some bat speed and gets barrel in front of the ball. Slight uphill swing with pull power. 87 mph exit velo. Good actions at 3B with soft hands. Decent range to glove and back-hand side. Good feet. 77 mph from 3/4 arm slot to 1B. Ran a 7.27 60 time. On the mound has a loose arm and hides ball well. Good extension to the plate with good down angle, lands in line. Cruised through 2 innings. Fastball lived 80-81 mph. Change was 68 mph, and curve was 64-65 mph. 

Henry Haen, 1B/OF, Mullen
6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Bats and throws right. Fills out the uniform well. Strong frame. Simple approach at the plate. Stance is tall and balanced with a short stride and minimal load. Slight uphill swing. Wants to launch ball. Gap to gap power. 85 mph exit velocity off the tee. Shows quick feet at first and good glove side range. Short 3/4 arm slot to 2B at 68 mph. Ran a 7.90 60. Some power potential. 

Jaren Sly, 3B/1B, Fountain Fort Carson
6-foot, 240 pounds. Bats and throws right. Moves very well with big frame. Strong player. Stands tall and balanced at plate. Utilizes leg kick for stride, and loads down and back. Slight uphill swing. Wants to lift. Solid live round with pull power. Has bat speed. 90 mph exit velo off a tee. Impressed at 3B during live games with a few nice back hands plays off hard hit balls. Moves very well for size, and has soft feet and hands. 73 mph arm velo to 1B from 3/4 arm slot. Ran a 7.4 60 time. 

Spencer Smithbaker, 1B/3B, Rocky Mountain
6-foot-2, 220 pounds. Bats and throws right. Stands tall at the plate. Leg kick stride. Hands start high, and load down and back. Slight uphill swing with bottom hand finish. Gap to gap power. 81 mph exit velocity off the tee.
