Prep Baseball Report

Top Prospect Games Q&A with: Tanner O'Tremba

By Jeff Markle
Assistant State Director

The Colorado Top Prospect games are just one month away and we would like to begin to spotlight some of the participants at this years event.  Over the course of the next four weeks Prep Baseball Report Colorado will run Q&A's with many of the participants giving you a chance to get to know them better.  Continuing our look is Tanner O'Tremba, 2018, 5-foot-11, 200-pound, OF/RHP from Cherry Creek High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:

O’Tremba: I'm a very hard-working kid. I will give you everything that I have. I really do not care about looking good I just love to play the game and to play it the right way.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?  If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?

O’Tremba: My dream school to play baseball at has always been Vanderbilt.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?

O’Tremba: My best assets on and off the field are working hard, being humble, having a desire to accomplish group goals as well as individual goals, and working my hardest to do anything I set my mind too.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?

O’Tremba: The best baseball advice I have ever received and that I always try to follow is to have a short memory because as you grow older baseball becomes a game of failure more and more.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?

O’Tremba: I have a lot of weird superstitions such as picking up a handful of dirt before games and sprinkling it around a special spot or eating generic blue and red gummy worms before I hit. A lot of my routines involve preparing myself for a game by icing and sitting in the hot tub the night before or listening to inspirational speeches and certain types of music depending on if I pitch or play a position the next day.

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season: Improve on my freshman year, learn more and more about the game, receive first or second team all-state, start every game like last year, hit .500, have an ERA below 1.75, lead the state in home runs, give my team the best chance to win a state championship, be a leader, create friendships and memories with my team, and have fun.

Two Years: Commit to a D1 college, improve upon my sophomore year, bat .600, have an ERA below 1.2, keep learning daily about the game, receive 1st team all state, lead the state in home runs, be a leader, give my team the best opportunity to win state, create friendships and memories with my team, be the Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year and have fun.

Four Years: Be able to earn a starting position for my college team, be drafted, learn about the game daily, create friendships and memories with my team, have a successful college career and have fun.
