Top Risers in 2017 Rankings

With our recent 2017 rankings update reaching 110 players, there were many players that moved up, and also were new to the list. Below is a look at some of the top risers and newcomers after the fall baseball season. Our next 2017 rankings will be posted after our Preseason All-State event next February where we expect to see many more new players that will shake up the overall rankings.

RHP Liam Eddy (Wichita State) shot up the rankings after impressive showings this fall with much improved velocity and projectable frame to No. 2 overall in our state. Out of Brighton High School, and pitching for Team Colorado this fall, Eddy is 6-foot-4, 175 pounds and brings a fastball now consistently in the upper 80's touching 90 at times.

Inside the top ten moving is C Tyson Hays (Grandview High School) jumping 7 spots to No. 9 in the state. Hays continues to show he is one of the top 2017 catching prospects in the state. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect showcased a 91 mph bat exit velocity which was up from 88 mph at the Denver Metro Prospect ID. He displayed the top pop time at the Top Prospect Games in August of 2.04 which was from the pitcher not a coach throwing, and was 73 mph out of the crouch.

The biggest riser overall was C Andrew Chavez (Cherry Creek High School) who moved over 30 spots to No. 21. A 5-foot-9, 196-pound, C/1B, started for Cherry Creek his sophomore year. He brings pop to the plate showcasing an 88 mph exit velo at the Fall Prospect ID. Behind the plate he smothers balls well in the dirt and has quick feet that get him in good throwing position to all bags.

Some new players to our list after our Top Prospect Games last August were No. 13 OF Walker Rumsey (Bear Creek HS), No. 17 SS Jake Hammons (Rock Canyon HS), No. 18 RHP Padraic Walsh (Smoky Hill HS), and No. 19 OF Eric Cox (Cherokee Trail HS).
