Scouting Report

2-26-17

5-foot-9, 170 pounds. Switch hitter who throws left. We really like how Haze repeats his swing from both sides of the plate. Line drive hitter to both sides of field. Exit velo was the same from both sides at 89 mph, and how his swing repeats itself from both sides of the plate. Gap to gap power. Haze is a versatile infielder who look like he could handle SS, 3B, and 2B if called upon. Strong enough arm at 83 mph. Can help a team in a lot of ways with versatility. Ran a 4.24 home to first time.

1.31.16

5-foot-8, 165-pound switch hitter who ran a 4.43 home to first. At the plate from the right side he stand open and dives into the pitch.  He has good extension with his arms through the zone.  From the left side he is more balanced with a short stride for timing.  He fires his hands and hips together and over rotates the finish.  He had an 85 MPH exit velocity.  In the field he moves well on balls to his glove side he has a quick strong release and delivers an 83 MPH ball with accuracy.  On the mound he delivers from a slight sink and drive position.  He throws from a ¾ arm slot and lands in-line with the plate.  He falls off to the first base side on his finish.  He featured a 78 MPH fastball with good command and added a 63 MPH curve with 11/5 action and a 69 MPH change.

8-8-15

5-foot-8, 160 pounds. Switch hitter who throws right. Haze was voted 2018 prospect that had best two-way talent. At the plate Haze has a consistent swing from both sides, but from right side he starts open. Tall stance with medium stride. Hands load down and back and swing is slightly uphill from both sides. Can turn on inside fast ball from both sides of the plate and does not appear to be more dominant from one side or the other. Generated a 75 mph exit velo from both sides off a tee. Was on base multiple times during the weekend. Defensively has good fundamentals. Throws from high 3/4 arm slot. Might be more comfortable at 3B. Has a good arm at 81 mph across diamond and accurate. On the mound depends on arm strength the most from same arm slot. Falls off towards first. Fastball sat at 76 mph, and curveball was 61-63 with 10/5 shape. If he gets more square to the plate and more leg drive has potential to throw a lot harder. Ran a 7.31 60 time. 2018 player to follow.
