Highlands Ranch - Tuesday’s game was slated to feature the top 2 pitching prospects in Colorado, in Regis’ Bo Weiss and ThunderRidge’s Jake Eissler.  The only problem was, one of the pitchers wasn’t there for the start of the game.  Senior Jake Eissler (TCU commit) had to take an AP exam, which pushed the game back 20 minutes to allow time for him to get the start.  However, the Grizzlies had to start senior right- hander Anthony Camacci instead for the 1st inning which Regis took advantage of.

The Raiders took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Jr Jimmy Holinger scored on a pass ball and an RBI single to RF off the bat of Austin Chouinard scoring Quin Cotton (Grand Canyon commit).  Bottom of the 1st, Bo Weiss (North Carolina commit) went to work, allowing 1 hit and striking out his 1st of seven ThunderRidge batters on the day. Enter the top of second, Jake Eissler (Texas Christian commit) is now in the building.  Eissler strikes out his first batter, walks the second and strikes out the third, Eissler had 8 K’s on the day.  Eissler’s crafty pick move ended the 2nd inning, keeping Regis at bay allowing no runs and no hits.

Regis would tack on 1 more run in the top of the 3rd thanks to an RBI single to LF by Patrick Kenny (Wittenberg commit) giving them a 3-0 lead.  Weiss would sit ThunderRidge down in order in the bottom of the 3rd.  In the top of 5, the steady Raiders kept at it, scoring another run off the bat of senior Travis Marr (Clemson commit).  Weiss continues to deal in the bottom of 5 tallying 2 more punchout’s.

In the top of the 6th, Regis kept pressing their attack as sophomore Brodie Marino hit a line drive RBI single scoring Kenny.  A few costly errors kept the inning going which included a pass ball that scored Marino giving Regis a 6-0 lead that would never be relinquished.

With the shutout in sight, Weiss took the mound in the bottom of the 7th putting ThunderRidge down in order.  Weiss strikes out his first batter, he then gets Jake Haze to ground out to 1b,  then completed his shutout by getting Weston Ley with a line out to SS Austin Chouinard.  A great game featuring two of Colorado’s best.  Weiss wins this battle.

Up next for ThunderRidge, they are set to face the 10-1 Grandview Wolves at Coors Field May 6th.  Regis takes on Heritage today at 4:15 for an important Continental League matchup.
