AARON JAQUEZ (NORTH CAROLINA COMMIT)

Aaron Jaquez RHP / 1B / Falcon, CO / 2026

Jaquez was one of the biggest overall winners from the 2024 Future Games as the tall and strong right-hander struckout 7 hitters in 3 innings of work. The fastball on Jaquez was ramped up to 92 mph with a tight slider and a deceptive changeup he was able to generate plenty of whiffs on. There was plenty of buzz around Jaquez after his innings at LakePoint and he has now earned himself a commitment to the University of North Carolina. Jaquez should continue to move up the national rankings as he carries one of the highest ceilings in the 2026 class.

OUR Q&A:

Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Jaquez: When thinking about the recruiting process, I expected it to be competitive and challenging. I thought coaches would be looking for players who worked hard, played hard, and had the skills to play at the next level. I also expected them to want athletes who were serious about improving both on and off the field. When choosing a college program, I was looking for a team that felt like a family, a campus that felt like home, and a coach who believed in me. I wanted a program that could help me grow as a player and as a person.

Prep Baseball: Did location play a factor in your decision?

Jaquez: No, finding the right program for my baseball career and education was more important than staying close to home. Even though being far from family might be tough at times, I know this is worth it, and I’ll still have my families support no matter where I am.

Prep Baseball: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Jaquez: The recruiting process really started to heat up for me at the end of June. I pitched well in Alabama, which helped me get noticed. North Carolina first saw me play in early July when I pitched in Florida and after that they kept an eye on me ever since.

Prep Baseball: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Jaquez: What I like most about North Carolina is how welcoming it felt, the coaches and everything felt like home, and the environment was very supportive.

Prep Baseball: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

Jaquez: Connor Larkin, he sees my pitches well and adjusts well to all of them, making him a tough out.

Prep Baseball: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Jaquez: In 8th grade I went to throwformance and topped 85. Sean and a college player were telling me to get Twitter and post it. So it was then when I realized I can play at the next level if I kept working.

Prep Baseball: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Jaquez: If you want it then you have to get it. Cut out the distractions because they will only keep you out of becoming the player you want to be.

Prep Baseball: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Jaquez: My most memorable moment is pitching at the Futures Games. I felt unstoppable once I settled down and I felt like I had full control of each at bat.

Prep Baseball: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Jaquez: Once we put the pieces together our team will be good and maybe better than last year. We should have lots of fun playing this season, so I believe we can beat anyone.
