CHASE MASSEY (BOSTON COLLEGE COMMIT)

Chase Massey SS / 2B / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2026

Massey has surged up the rankings over the last year, and he put on quite the show at the 2024 Future Games as well. The Regis Jesuit junior flashed the ability to play both shortstop and centerfield with feel during the games, while he racked up plenty of extra-base hits offensively. Massey also comes with a very low strikeout rate and quality baseball IQ. The strong and athletic prospect has a chance to make even more jumps in the coming year, and is now one of the top overall 2026 position players within the state. The junior outfielder has now made a commitment to Boston College to continue his baseball career.

OUR Q&A:

Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Massey: At the time of my recruitment there was a lot changing in the world of college baseball so I didn’t really know what to expect. I wanted to find a school that not only had a great baseball program but great academics as well. One where I could really see myself thrive at and Boston College was that school.

Prep Baseball: Did location play a factor in your decision?

Massey: I wanted to get out of Colorado just to see what else is out there.

Prep Baseball: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Massey: The recruitment process for me started to heat up at the end of summer going into fall. I was invited to play at the 2024 Future Games which really jump started my recruitment. Boston College first saw me play in the Academic Games at the Arizona Fall Classic and followed me throughout the tournament.

Prep Baseball: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Massey: Academics were a huge factor for me because if baseball didn’t work out, I wanted to be at a place I can get a great degree with plenty of job opportunities out of college. Team chemistry was also big because I wanted a school where I could stay all 4 years especially with the transfer portal becoming a big part of college baseball. The coaches as well played a big factor and they really made me feel at home when I went on my visit.

Prep Baseball: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Massey: BYU, Air Force, and Cincinnati were the main ones.

Prep Baseball: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

Massey: Probably my teammate Hudson Alpert. I faced him last spring during our spring world series and in the summer. He has a great 3 pitch mix with a mid 90’s fastball and a curveball that has a lot of movement.

Prep Baseball: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Massey: I think freshman or sophomore year I realized I was good enough to play at the next level but I had wanted to play in college since middle school.

Prep Baseball: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Massey: Take things one day at a time and enjoy the process. Time flies and you will want to go back once you’re gone.

Prep Baseball: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Massey: Making my commitment to BC because I proved to everyone that I was able to play at the highest level.

Prep Baseball: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Massey: We have 11 returners and I think that will be a huge part in our success this year. Having lost last year in the state championship, that is not a feeling we want to have again so we will be working hard to get to where we know we can be. We also have a few guys who didn’t play varsity last year that will have a big impact on the team. I think as a group this is the greatest bond we have ever had with each other and that will take us a long way.
