2020 Scout Day: Boys Of Summer - Quick Hits

Position Players

  • Ryan Brimecombe, 2022- A left-handed hitter, showed a solid swing, pounding the baseball to both gaps with lift, has leverage to the swing, had an exit velocity of 88 mph.
  • Connor Clifford, 2022- A right-handed hitter, backside opposite approach, exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 6.78 sixty, good looking athlete, a move to the outfield will bring value up.
  • Derek Davis, 2025- A right-handed hitter, only a 2025, took a legit batting practice, exit up to 82 mph, hard contact to all fields, advanced swing and approach. Going to be a guy down the road.
  • Connor Edo, 2023- A right-handed hitting catcher, showed very well behind the plate, clean arm pop time at 2.0, all throws on the bag with carry, well advanced behind the plate, needs to add arm strength. Simple all fields approach at the plate.
  • Dylan Ellison, 2023- A right-handed hitter, above average pop, needs to clean the path, but hands work with serious life to them.
  • Andrew Fortunato, 2022- A right-handed hitter, showed an advanced swing, level to up, behind the baseball on contact, plus pop to the gaps, 90 mph on the exit, very impressive round of batting practice.
  • Ryan Heinz, 2024- A left-handed hitter, line drives from the middle to pull side, line drives, barrelling the baseball consistently. Major juice in the hands for a 2024, had an exit velocity of 93 mph.
  • Tyler LaRocque, 2022- A right-handed hitter, showed the top tools, ran a 6.76 sixty, exit at 91 mph, threw 79 mph from outfield. The swing is short and compact, baseball jumps off the bat.
  • Jack Weber, 2022- A right-handed hitter, clean hands and path to the baseball, lower half is under control, 85 mph, exit. Moved well at third base, soft hands with enough arm to stick.
  • JP O’Neill, 2024- A right-handed hitter, loose hands through the zone. A young body, with a ton of potential, had an exit of 79 mph, with a ton more in there.
  • Dylan Russ, 2022- A right-handed hitter, opposite approach, level path, line drives. Quick behind the plate, had a pop time of 2.01, soft hands on the catch, moves well behind the plate.

The Arms

  • Aidan Dowd, 2023- A right-handed pitcher, arm is super clean working from ¾ slot. Creates a ton of arm side sink, fastball at 77 mph, throws a true breaking ball at 65-66  mph, look for a jump at some point.
  • Brendan Palmer, 2022- A big bodied right-handed pitcher, throws across body, bringing deception to the delivery, fastball up to 79 moh, creating arm side run. Breaking ball has tilt and depth to it, up to 66 mph, more in there for this one.
  • Gino Taranino, 2022- Working from the left-side, has a feel for throwing strikes, fastball in the mid 70’s. The arm action is clean, working with easy effort, has a jump in there velocity wise, and throws a good looking changup.
  • Trevor Knotwell, 2022- A left-handed pitcher, longer clean arm action, working from a high ¾ slot. Pounds the zone with the fastball, clocked at 75 mph, and comes out well. Bigger, slower breaking ball.
  • Andrew Fortunato, 2022- A right-handed pitcher, arm is long and clean, working from a higher slot, pitching downhill, life and late action. Fastball at 78 mph. The breaking ball is bigger, and needs more fastball hand speed.
  • Derek Davis, 2025- A right-handed pitcher, controlled his delivery and repeated it with ease, look for him to be a guy off the mound, down the road.
