Josh Taylor 3B / OF / Newtown, CT / 2020

SANDY HOOK, Ct. - Josh Taylor knew when he found what he was looking for in a college. It came just an hour away from home at Central Connecticut State.

“Ultimately, what I was looking for in the recruiting process was that I wanted to say I’m going to a school that I’m incredibly proud to be going to,” Taylor explained. “I feel I can say that now. With the coaches they have, I can’t wait to get on campus next fall. I’m so excited to be a Blue Devil.”

Talk with the Division I school that plays in the Northeast Conference began earlier in 2019.

“They started reaching out to me this past season,” the 49th-rated 2020 in New England said. “They saw me in high school, at PBR events and in summer ball. They expressed an interest in me going to a camp there. I went and it was a no-brainer to go there. For me, it was the coaching staff and the environment. They showed me what it was like to be part of a family there at Central and I can’t wait to be able to call it home.”

Just 5-8 and 150 pounds as a freshman, Taylor currently stands 6-1 while weighing in at195.

“My improvement has been monumental,” Taylor noted. “Now that I’ve grown, I’ve really been working on my skill set.

“They really like my projectability,” Taylor added about Central. “They want me to come in and be an impact player. They’re going to be losing a lot to the draft or as seniors. They’ve made a lot of runs in the tournament and they value my projectability. They see me as a work in progress.”

A third baseman with the ability to bounce over to first base, Taylor can also play in the outfield.

“They’re looking at me right now as a third baseman/left fielder,” pointed out Taylor, the top-rated senior third sacker in New England.

Where he plays is not important to Taylor, but rather the idea of playing at Central.
