2025 Preseason ID-South Dakota: Quick Hits

SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA - The Preseason ID-South Dakota event took place February 16th, 2025. The event was held at the Sioux Falls Dome in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The event featured over 80 prospects from the class of 2025 through 2028 and many solid performances from the players in attendance. Thank you to the players, coaches and the Sioux Falls Sports Dome staff for such a great event.
There were a number of great individual performances this year at the Preseason ID-South Dakota event.

PRESEASON ID NAMES TO KNOW

Drake Eastman RHP / Dell Rapids, SD / 2026
Eastman has made a significant jump since last June when he competed at the Dakota State Games. His fastball has improved, now touching 89.5 mph, and he pairs it with a high-spin breaking ball that reached 2,860 RPMs. He throws with good arm speed and shows solid command around the zone. Currently ranked 14th in the Dakotas’ 2026 class, Eastman is trending upward.

Grady Gindorff SS / Brandon Valley, SD / 2026
Gindorff posted the event’s best 60-yard dash time at 6.79 seconds. The right-handed-hitting infielder has added strength and size, which was evident in BP, where he recorded a 98.1 mph exit velocity max. He put up some of the best all-around numbers at the event and is currently ranked 5th in the Dakotas’ 2026 class.

Blayn Hunt SS / Stevens High School - 42, SD / 2028
A standout 2028 prospect from Stevens High School (Rapid City), Hunt impressed in his Prep Baseball debut. The switch-hitting middle infielder took an impressive BP round from the right side, showing good bat speed and strength for his size. He also turned in a 7.27-second 60-yard dash, making a strong first impression.

Maddux Munson RHP / SIOUX FALLS CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS, SD / 2027
The No. 2-ranked player in the Dakotas’ 2027 class posted an event-best 90.2 mph fastball. The big-bodied right-hander has a projectable frame with room for continued growth. Munson works from a higher slot, attacks aggressively out front, and shows feel for multiple secondary pitches.

Kade Wede RHP / Harrisburg High School - 01, SD / 2027
The Super Sophomore alum stood out this past weekend, running his fastball up to 90 mph while sitting in the upper 80s throughout his bullpen. He pairs his heater with quality secondary offerings, making him an intriguing prospect. Ranked 3rd in the Dakotas’ 2027 class, Wede continues to impress.

RISING STARS ID NAMES TO FOLLOW

Tate Johnson SS / RHP / Sturgis Brown High School - 01, SD / 2029
Johnson showed a smooth yet aggressive approach on the mound, working his fastball at 80-81 mph, topping at 82 mph, with good spin. He demonstrated an advanced feel for offspeed pitches and a highly repeatable delivery. As he continues to grow, there’s a lot to like in his development.

Steven Solano RHP / OF / Rapid City Central, SD / 2029
Solano showcased an impressive long, athletic frame with quick arm action on the mound, running his fastball up to 87 mph. He also displayed plus offspeed pitches with sharp movement. Offensively, he swings aggressively with significant power to the pull side, generating explosive contact.
