2018 FL All State Games: Quick Hits

This past weekend at Alex Rodriguez Park at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, the top high school prospects ranging from the 2019-2022 classes participated in the 2018 Florida All-State Games. The 2018 Florida All-State Games featured draft talent, numerous Division 1 recruits, and some of the top uncommitted underclassman in the state.

Over the course of the next few weeks we will break down each and every player, position by position. Today, we gather our notes and take a look at a few "Quick Hits" from the event. 

2019 C Christian Pregent: Stetson recruit continued to jump out defensively, One of the most consistent catch and throw catchers, on the bag and pop times that ranged from 1.85-1.92. Also, showed pull side power potential.

2019 C Kalvin Alexander: Saint John’s River JC recruit. Really stands out offensively. Drove a ball off the batter's eye in center. Stands upright and has an extremely quick bat and strong wrists. Present power with more to come.

2019 MIF Jorel Ortega: Tennessee recruit. Drove a ball back up the middle during gameplay, took second on the throw in. Overall, he is a gamer. The tools play up in game both offensively and defensively.

2019 C Jorge Corona: Polk State recruit. Showed a strong and accurate arm on his throws to the bag, topping out at 82 mph which was the highest of the event. Has above average defensive potential. Also showed above average power to the pull side power both in BP and in game.

2019 1B Matthew Krtausch: is a big, strong left handed hitter who has a single and a double in the game.

2019 MIF Christopher Russo: showed a simple swing and was on the barrell for a single in the game.

2019 RHP Dylan Adams: struck out five during his two innings of work.

2018 RHP Juan Marulanda: ASA JC recruit. Struck out four in his two innings of work.

2020 C Gino Bellantoni: Showed some athletic actions behind the plate, blocking and receiving, also had a single in the game.

2019 MIF Tucker Fine: Uncommitted. Moved well defensively and had a single in game action.

2019 MIF Drake Chamberlin: Uncommitted. Showed a loose left handed swing that had present leverage in BP. Translated to a hard hit single in the game.

2019 MIF Alexander Aguila: Committed to VCU shortly after the event, showed well above average to plus defensive actions. He showed quick hands offensively and offensive upside.

2019 OF John Urena: Uncommitted. Stayed on the barrell both during BP and in the game. While it didn’t translate to hits, he has a compact swing with quick hands.

2020 C Roberto Moya: Uncommitted. Registered the top exit velocity of the day off a tee at 102 mph. The bat really stands out. He has strength throughout the frame and showed real above average to plus power potential.

2019 3B/1B Hunter Fitz-Gerald: Florida Southern recruit. Registered the second best exit velocity of the event at 97 mph. The left handed hitter has long lever and creates leverage without getting long often. There is present power and still more to come.

2021 RHP Irving Carter: Miami recruit. Physical, athletic, durable frame standing at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds. Overpowered the three hitters he faced in his inning of work where he struck out two. Fastball sat 88-90 mph, touching 91 while mixing in an 85-86 mph cutter, 71 -72 mph curveball, and a 74-75 mph changeup. High ceiling and one of the top pitchers in his class nationally.

2020 RHP/OF Jaden Bruno: Stanford recruit. Had a hard hit single in the game. Was 85-88 with a live arm and a high ceiling.

2020 C Sebastian Jimenez: Florida International recruit. Continues to fill out a big, long and lean frame. Solid defensive actions, has leverage in the swing and produced a single in the game.

2020 MIF Jordan Carrion: Florida recruit. Shows advanced defensive actions, fields the ball smoothly with confident hands. Went gap-to-gap during BP. More power to come. Very high follow.

2020 MIF Sammy Infante: Miami recruit. May have highest ceiling at the event. There is easy bat speed and present power with a lot more to come.

2021 MIF Dorian Gonzalez Jr.: Uncommitted. Continues to show an advance, plus hit tool for his age. He has barrel awareness and an advanced approach..

2020 IF Keanu Jacobs-Guishard: Uncommitted. Projectable, athletic frame. May have been the biggest winner on the day. Had easy, athletic actions that played up in the game and really stood out. Offensively, he is compact with bat speed and power potential.

2022 IF Christian Soto is one of the youngest players  in attendance, but the play still stands out as one to follow

2020 OF Cesar Franco: Uncommitted. Showed an above average arm from the outfield where he topped out at 91 mph on his throws that showed carry and accuracy. Very athletic frame with a lot of potential.

2020 LHP/1B Sebastian Bentz struck out one in his inning of work and showed some natural loft and power potential from the left side.

2020 LHP/OF Ryan Bruno: Stanford recruit. Continues to make strides in repeating his delivery and trending upwards. The arm is electric and was up to 89, striking out two. Also, had a hard hit line drive to center.

2020 OF/RHP Alexander Sousa had a level swing and produced a double in the game.

2021 C Christopher McKenna moved well behind the plate and had a single in the game, showing overall potential.

2020 MIF Eddie Sierra had a live arm with athletic actions defensively and had a single in the game.

2019 MIF Matthew Ojeda had loose actions defensively, showed barrel awareness in BP and translated to a single in the game where he also stole a base.

2020 MIF Jesus Pacheco: Uncommitted. Shows above average athletic action and above average defensive actions.

2020 3B Christian Adams: Uncommitted. The left handed hitter has a projectable frame with offensive upside. Stayed on the barrell during BP and translated to a double in the game.
