West Palm Beach, FL- On October 11th, the 2018 Florida Top Prospect Games took place at Henley Field which featured some of the top 2019-2022s throughout the state. Players participated in a pro-style workout followed by a game.

Over the next week, we will breakdown each player by position through report. Today, we take a look at all the middle infielders in attendance:

Jorel Ortega SS / 3B / Spanish River Community, FL / 2019

Tennessee recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with a strong, athletic frame. Still some room to fill out. Defensively, he shows above average defensive actions and has a real feel for the position, playing with confidence and ease during gameplay. Shows a quick release with an above average arm across the diamond which is accurate and to the bag, topping out at 90 mph. Offensively, he has a simple swing with a toe-tap for his load, generating above average bat speed with quick hands through the zone, consistently squaring it up and driving the ball deep into the gaps with pull side pop during batting practice. Registered a 95 mph exit velocity in the cage. Ortega will continue to be a draft follow heading into the spring high school season.

Hector Mangual SS / 2B / Hagerty, FL / 2021

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-3, 160 pounds with a highly projectable, athletic frame. In the field, he shows advanced defensive actions and plenty of range. Shows quick feet and moves laterally with ease, ranging backhand and forehand while fielding the ball under control. Throws to the bag are accurate and have carry, topping out at 80 mph. Offensively, he starts from a slightly open stance with a leg kick for his load, showing present bat speed through the zone and gap-to-gap power potential. At times he can be a little out in front, but when he is in rhythm, he generates hard contact which translated to the cage where he registered an exit velocity of 86 mph. Clocked in at 7.17 seconds for his 60 yard dash time.

Sean Sullivan SS / 2B / Saint Thomas Aquinas, FL / 2020

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 155 pounds with a lean, projectable frame. Long limbs. Shows some present athleticism which showed when he started the day running a 60 yard dash time in 6.99 seconds which was the third fastest time of the event. Offensively, he starts from a wide base with a high hand set, going from a level to uphill finish on his swing. At times he can get a little rotational, but when he stays direct to the ball he was able to make consistent contact. Added strength to his frame with more utilization out of his lower half should generate more gap-to-gap power. Registered an 82 mph exit velocity in the cage. Defensively, he shows athletic actions and fields the ball control with accurate throws to the bag that topped out at 81 mph.

Christopher Basile SS / 2B / Ransom Everglades, FL / 2021

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 150 pounds with a lean, athletic frame. Offensively, he starts from a wide base with loose hands through the zone. Level to uphill finish. At times can get a little long with his swing, but when he stays direct to the ball he was able to show gap-to-gap potential. Registered an 83 mph exit velocity in the cage. Defensively, he fields the ball under control and with confidence, showing some range up the middle. Throws to the bag were on line and topped out at 76 mph.
