2018 Florida Top Prospect Games Positional Breakdown: Two-Ways and Pitchers

West Palm Beach, FL- On October 11th, the 2018 Florida Top Prospect Games took place at Henley Field which featured some of the top 2019-2022s throughout the state. Players participated in a pro-style workout followed by a game.
Over the next week, we will breakdown each player by position through report. Today, we take a look at all the two-way players and pitchers in attendance:

Trey Jackson SS / RHP / Eau Gallie, FL / 2020Rankings StateRank: 84 / POS: 19
Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds with a strong, athletic frame. Has gotten noticeably more physical over the fall which has translated to an improvement in his overall game. During batting practice, he showed a feel for the barrel and squared up the ball for multiple hard hit line drives into the gaps. Shows a lot of confidence at the plate and trusts his hands to drive the ball. Registered a 92 mph exit velocity in the cage. Defensively, he shows athletic actions up the middle while ranging backhand and forehand, fielding the ball under control and with accurate throws to the bag that have carry, topping out at 89 mph. On the mound, he shows a quick arm and featured a fastball that sat 85-87 mph with life, touching 88 mph while mixing in a 79-80 mph changeup and a slider at 74-75 mph with depth, throwing it for strikes. With the added strength and athleticism Jackson possesses, he will one of the top uncommitted two-way follows for his class in the state. |

Bailey Uderitz OF / RHP / American Heritage Boca/Delray , FL / 2020Pepperdine recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds with a tall, projectable frame with room to fill out. At the plate, he continued to show a loose, whippy swing and offensive upside from the left side of the plate. Gap-to-gap type of hitter who creates hard contact, which translated to the cage where he registered a 92 mph exit velocity. From the outfield, he shows a quick first step going back on the ball and tracks the ball well that are hit into the gaps. Fields the ball out in front and releases the ball out in front with online throws to third and home that topped out at 86 mph. Shows potential on the mound as well where he displayed a quick arm and athleticism. Featured a fastball that sat 84-86 mph while mixing in a 73-74 mph slider that he showed a feel for with late action. |

William Childs RHP / Gaither, FL / 2019Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 170 pounds with an athletic build, still some room to add to his frame. During his two innings of work, he mostly sat 81-83 mph, touching 84 with his fastball that showed run along with a slider at 72-73 mph with some sluvry action and a 75-76 mph changeup from the sidearm slot. Creates deception throughout his delivery and a tough angle on hitters, forcing off balance swings. Induced multiple weak ground ball/fly ball outs and worked down in the zone. Childs projects for another uptick in velocity and will be a quality add to a program looking for a bullpen arm. |

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds with an athletic frame and strong lower half. Feet work well hands are sound. Offensively, there is some steepness in the path and will access the lower half with better separation, but there is present bat speed and strength. Very interesting on the mound, where the athleticism plays well. Arm is quick with arm strength. Fastball ranged 83-85 mph with life in the zone and much more to come in the future. |

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with a projectable frame and strong lower half. On the mound, he worked a clean inning where he featured a fastball that sat 81-83 mph, touching 84 with some run along with a 76-77 mph changeup and 66-70 mph curveball. Threw first pitch strikes and worked the corners, down in the zone. Struck out two. In the field, he fields the ball under control and out in front with solid defensive actions. Suited for a corner spot. Throws across the diamond topped out at 78 mph and were accurate to the bag. At the plate he starts from a wide base with a slightly open stance and uphill path through the zone. At times he can drop his hands through the zone, but when he stays level to uphill on his finish, he was able to drive the ball into the outfield. Registered an 82 mph exit velocity in the cage. |

Jacob Smith RHP / 1B / Spanish River Community, FL / 2022Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 167 pounds with a projectable, athletic frame. Still growing into the frame and can get him out of sync at times offensively. The long levers has him a bit rotational and long, but when synced up has present power. As he grows into the frame, he could make some big strides offensively. Same went for the skillset on the mound. The arm works fairly clean, with the fastball ranging from 74-79 mph. Showed three pitch potential and as he grows into the frame and begins to repeat the delivery, access the lower half and use the frame to create angles, he could make some big strides in the near future. Overall, there is a lot to like and dream on from this young two way player. |

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds with a stocky, athletic frame. Defensively, he shows confident hands and fields the ball under control while showing some range up the middle. Throws to the bag topped out at 75 mph. Offensively, he starts from a wide base with a slightly open stance and a big leg kick for his load. When he is on time and in rhythm, he showed the ability to drive the ball back up the middle and to the pull side. Registered an 82 mph exit velocity in the cage. On the mound, he works from a simple wind up with a big leg kick for his delivery, throwing out of the high ¾ slot with some extension out in front. Featured a fastball that mostly sat 74-75 mph, touching 76 while also mixing in a 67-69 mph curveball that showed depth. |
