Doug Freeman
Florida Scouting Director

The 2018 Future Games is the largest uncommitted event in the country, with over 400 players and 253 coaches and scouts in attendance. The event consists of a workout day and three games. Team Florida played three games and we will take a look at each player from 2018 Team Florida. Today, we take a look at the four outfielders in attendance.

Corbin Grantham OF / Buchholz, FL / 2020

Standing at 5-foot-11, 181 pounds he is an extremely well put together, twitchy athlete. Son of the University of Florida’s defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, you can see the all around athleticism. Running a team best 6.55 60 yard dash, he is an extremely twitchy athlete. Still fairly new to baseball full time, the tools are a bit raw in game, but overall he has a ton of tool and extremely high ceiling. Still a bit raw on routes in the outfield, he still track balls down extremely well with natural athleticism and closing speed. Offensively, the twitchiness translates to above average bat speed. He can cut himself off at times, but when he works through to extension, his natural strength has present power with more to come. Had a double in the game against Carolina and as he continues to get baseball reps the sky's the ceiling.

Stan DeMartinis OF / C / American Heritage Delray, FL / 2020

The lean 5-foot-11, 172 pound OF/C has strength throughout the frame with present athleticism. He is a true utility player, he moves well in the outfield and throws had carry, topping out at 88 mph. Behind the plate, the athleticism plays well and is a solid defender. He also plays some infield and moves well and is a solid defender. Overall, he has an IQ for the game and is a player that can be a super utility guy, which will be very valuable to a club at the next level. Offensively, there is present bat speed and strength. He has bat to ball skills, with a fairly compact swing. He has gap to gap power and translated to an RBi single against the Carolina’s. He is a very athletic, super utility player whose bat will play at the next level.

Alexander Haire OF / RHP / Berkeley Prep, FL / 2020

A wiry 5-foot-11, 165 pound outfielder, Haire has natural instincts in the outfield with present athleticism. Running a 6.95 60 yard dash, he has functional athleticism in the outfield and on the basepath. Has an above average to plus arm for class, topping out at 91 mph with accurate  throws with life. Offensively, the swing is compact and level through the zone. He stays simple and balanced and shows above average hit potential. Had a single against Team Select and put together a few quality at-bats. Also threw an inning, topping at 87 mph. It is still raw, but the arm is lively and has potential. Overall, he is athletic and should hit for average at the next level.

Jonathan Shoop OF / 1B / Jesuit, FL / 2020

Standing a 6-foot, 200 pound he has a strong lower half. Has some present athleticism and tracks the ball well in the outfield, running a 6.77 60 yard dash. Throws are accurate and topped out at 80 mph. Offensively, he has strength and uses the lower half well. There is present bat speed and when he gets everything on time flashed pull side power. Had an exit velocity of 91 mph. A left handed hitting outfielder, he has some power potential and recorded a pair of singles against team Mid-Atlantic.
