2021 FL ProCase: Team Blue Analysis

The 2021 PBR Florida ProCase took place Wednesday, June 2nd at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. The event featured some of the top 2021-2022 prospects in the state participating in a pro-style workout followed by gameplay in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff. The event was broken down into two sessions with Team Black and Team Blue in session 1. Team Red and Team Grey were apart of session 2.

To view all the stats from the event, check out our Stats Story. Today we will continue with our Player Analysis breaking down each player's tools and projectability through scouting reports. So far we have gone through Team RedTeam Grey, and Team Black Analysis. Today, we continue with Team Blue.

Team Blue Analysis

 

Schyler Arroyo C / 3B / Hagerty , FL / 2022

Bethune-Cookman Commit, 5-foot-9, 181-pound mature physical frame. Confident during batting practice, Arroyo's best exit velocity was 94 mph. Starts in a balanced stance with an arm bar compact load, then uses a short stride. Has average bat speed, short swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 78 mph during throw downs; had a quick exchange, consistent soft hands, and quick athletic footwork. displayed next-level catching ability by boasting a 1.93-2.08 pop time. Above average flexibility and athletic setup. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a quick arm action with an-over-the-top slot. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.94.


Gunnett Carlson C / 1B / Berkeley Prep, FL / 2022

Florida State Commit, 5-foot-11, 195-pound physical athletic frame. Above average during batting practice, Carlson recorded an exit velocity of 97 mph. Begins in an open athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Had explosive bat speed, uphill rotational swing plane and high finish. He created loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side approach. Behind the plate, shows consistent feet, a natural exchange, and soft hands. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used an-over-the-top slot and a short arm action. 


Jorge Cartagena Galletti OF / National Baseball Academy, PR / 2022

6-foot-1, 190-pound athletic mature frame. Raw in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 94 mph. Begins in a tall athletic stance with a wrapping arm bar load, then uses a toe tap. Bat speed was quick, had a level swing plane and high finish. Through his round he found some barrels. Gap to gap approach. Solid from the outfield, he showed plus arm strength by making throws to the infield at velocities up to 90 mph;had a natural exchange, soft consistent hands, and choppy quick footwork. Movements laterally were athletic. Showed a long arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.69. 


Connor Fosnow 3B / 2B / Lake Brantley, FL / 2022

6-foot-2, 210-pound physical athletic frame. Confident at the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 97 mph. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a small controlled load, then uses a small leg kick. Has explosive bat speed, level uphill swing plane and level finish. He produced a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Solid while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 83 mph; shows choppy quick feet, a lengthy exchange, and soft hands. Laterally, his movements were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot with a long arm action. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.02. 


Finn Howell SS / RHP / St. Johns Country Day, FL / 2022

North Florida Commit, 6-foot, 175-pound athletic frame. Athletic in the box, Howell clocked an exit velocity of 89 mph. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a tight load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed was quick, had a short level swing plane and good extension on his finish. During his round he produced some loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Capable in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 77 mph; had fluid rhythmic footwork, consistent hands, and a lengthy exchange. Laterally, his movements were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action with a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.04 at the event. 


Chase Ingram 1B / RHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2022

6-foot-3, 215-pound physical athletic frame. Solid at the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 99 mph. Begins in an athletic open stance with a controlled tight load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed was explosive, showed a level uphill swing plane and level finish. Created a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. Above average while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 84 mph; has consistent hands, quick feet, and a natural exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.31. Capable on the mound, showed a long arm action and a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows decent effort. Balance point is tall with in line shoulders during delivery. Lands square. Threw his fastball 86-88 mph with a max of 89 mph; has occasional control and running action with hard movement. Shows in the zone command and cutting action on his 10/4 curveball (75-77). Had control low in the zone and fading action on his changeup (79-80).


Johnnie Lopez SS / 2B / Deltona, FL / 2022

6-foot, 195-pound athletic frame. Fluid during batting practice, Lopez's best exit velocity was 95 mph. Begins in a tall open stance with a compact smooth load, then uses a toe tap. Has quick bat speed, level rotational swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Athletic in the infield, his best throw was registered at 83 mph; had soft hands, athletic rhythmic footwork, and a packing exchange. Movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action and a high ¾ slot. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.79. 


Kyle Marti SS / OF / Christopher Columbus, FL / 2021

Erskine College Commit, 5-foot-9, 175-pound athletic frame. Capable during batting practice, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 97 mph. Started in an athletic balanced stance with a high controlled load, then used a long stride. Bat speed is electric, displays an uphill loose swing plane and level finish. He found a few barrels through his round. Gap to gap approach. Above average in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 87 mph; had a fluid exchange, athletic quick footwork, and soft hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were quick. Used a high ¾ slot and a short arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.69. 


AJ Nessler OF / 2B / Jesuit , FL / 2022

Pittsburgh Commit, 5-foot-10, 185-pound athletic frame. Above average at the plate, Nessler had a max exit velocity of 95 mph. Begins in a balanced stance with a high tight load, then uses a quick stride. Has a short an inside-out swing plane, explosive bat speed and level finish. He found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Pull side approach. Capable in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 84 mph; has soft hands, rhythmic feet, and a lengthy exchange. Glovework was used to the side. Had a high ¾ slot and a long arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.05.


James Oman 2B / OF / St Johns Country Day, FL / 2021

Chipola College Commit, 5-foot-11, 185-pound athletic frame. Confident in the box, Oman recorded an exit velocity of 101 mph. Started in an open athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a leg kick. Had explosive bat speed, level swing plane and good extension on his finish. During his round he produced tons of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side approach. Capable while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 81 mph; has athletic quick feet, a natural exchange, and soft hands. Athletic from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 86 mph; shows soft hands, a natural fluid exchange, and quick feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were twitchy. Showed an-over-the-top slot and a long arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.83. 


Freddy Oquendo OF / 1B / Miami Christian , FL / 2022

Florida International Commit, 6-foot, 175-pound athletic frame. Athletic in the box, Oquendo recorded an exit velocity of 97 mph. Started in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a big leg kick. Has a level uphill swing plane, electric bat speed and level finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Up the middle approach. Above average throwing from the outfield, he displayed power in his arm with throws up to 89 mph;has a natural exchange, quick feet, and consistent hands. Laterally, movements were twitchy and fielded the ball to the side. Had a high ¾ slot and a long arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.82 60-yard dash.


James (JD) Smith RHP / Valdosta, GA / 2022

5-foot-10, 160-pound lean athletic frame. Capable on the mound, using a long arm action he showed quick arm speed from a high ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher who shows decent effort. During his delivery balance point is tall with in line shoulders. Lands closed with a recoil finish. Threw his fastball 87-89 mph; shows running action and control in the zone. His 10/4 curveball (71-74) showed some action and around the zone control. His changeup (78-80) showed arm side control and running action. 


Sal Stewart 3B / SS / Westminster Christian, FL / 2022

Vanderbilt Commit, 6-foot-3, 215-pound projectable athletic frame. Advanced at the plate, Stewart was ranked 3rd with an exit velocity of 102 mph. Starts in an open balanced stance with a tight compact load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is electric, uses a level uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up lots of balls with tons of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Solid in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 89 mph; had a quick exchange, soft hands, and athletic footwork. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Had a short arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.36.


Alex Walsh LHP / OF / Oxbridge Academy, FL / 2022

Texas Tech Commit, 6-foot-4, 180-pound lanky projectable frame. Advanced on the mound, used a long arm action and a ¾ arm angle while showing quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows max effort. Has in line shoulder and consistent balance point. Lands square with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 86-88 mph; had running action and command in the zone. His changeup (78-79) shows running action and low in the zone control. His 1/7 slider (73-76) showed in the zone command and some action. 


Isaac Williams RHP / RHP / Fleming Island, FL / 2022

Jacksonville Commit, 6-foot-2, 205-pound athletic physical frame. Advanced on the mound, showed a loose arm action and a ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed. Up-tempo delivery and uses decent effort. Tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands square with an upright finish. Threw his fastball 88-90 mph with a max of 91 mph; shows command in the zone and running action. Threw his 10/4 curveball (78-80) with swing and miss action and in the zone control. Has a heavy changeup (80-83) that shows arm side command and fading action.
