2021 Future Games Spotlight: Robert Demetree

The 2021 PBR Future Games has come and gone. The event featured the top uncommitted 2023 and 2024 players around the country representing their home state in front of over 350+ college coaches. Team Florida was a fun and talented squad who showcased their abilities all week. They would go 2-0-1 with wins over Carolina and Mid-Atlantic and a tie vs Georgia.

Post event, we will be spotlighting each member of Team Florida. Continuing with 2023 SS Robert Demetree. Demetree is a 6-foot, 185 pound shortstop from TNXL Academy. Robert plays travel ball with Eagles Baseball. This was Demetree's second go around at the Future Games after attending as an underclassman in 2020. Demetree moves well defensively with soft hands and an arm to play both spots on the left side of the infield. Showcased a plus arm up to 94 mph at the Future Games. Demetree has continued to add strength to his frame allowing for more power potential. Fluid swing with a gap to gap approach offensively.

Scouting Report

Position: SS/3B

Body: 6-foot, 185-pound solid frame.

Hit: (RHH) Started in a balanced stance with a smooth low load, then used a leg kick. Above average bat speed. Good extension on his finish, level loose swing. Gap to gap approach.

Power: 89 mph exit velocity, average 81.51 mph. 63.50 mph bat speed average. 20.82 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (IF) Soft hands, athletic smooth footwork, fluid clean exchange. Above average.  Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front.

Arm: 92 mph infield velocity. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.

Speed: 7.52 (60-yard).

Positional Profile: SS/3B - The lean, young frame is very projectable. Moves well and should stick at short with both hit and power upside.
Body: 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Young face, long lean frame.
Defense: Quick footwork, keeps them moving at all times. Glove out, smooth gather and balanced from field to throw.
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. Loose, high 3/4 slot. Extension out front.
Hit: RHH. Tall in the box with a simple stride and load. Really clears the hips well and gets into a hitting slot early. Hands remain independent and adjusts well while staying on plane through the zone
Power: 95 mph exit velocity. 
Run: 7.62 runner in the 60.

Positional Profile: SS/3B 
Body: 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. High waisted, athletic, projectable strong bodied frame.
Defense:  Athletic, true SS actions, soft hands working through baseball with rhythm. 
Arm: RH. INF - 91 mph. Arm strength present, over top arm slot, quick release, throws on target.
Hit: RHH. Tall, athletic setup, strong hands work back then directly to baseball. Smooth/fluid actions all around, attacks baseball with intent, projectable power. 
Power: 91 mph exit velocity. Consistent gap to gap power. 
Run: 7.38 runner in the 60. 

6/12/20

Positional Profile: SS/3B 
Body: 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Tall, athletic, long, room for continued physical development. 
Defense: Light on the feet, soft hands, clean exchange, sound defender. 
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. Short arm action, over the top arm slot. 
Hit: RHH. Tall setup, short leg lift, quiet hand load creating easy consistent timing.  Advanced bat speed for age, gap to gap approach, mature plate presence. 
Power: 85 mph exit velocity from the tee. 
Run: 7.67 runner in the 60.
