The 2021 PBR Junior Future Games continued Thursday, July 29th with the first day of games. Team Florida 14U took on Arizona and Team Florida 13U took on Pennsylvania. Take a look at yesterday's recap.

14U - Florida 6 Arizona 0

The 14U Florida squad got off to a quick start at the 2021 Jr Futures Games here in Lakepoint. Cameron Kessell delivered a masterful performance on the mound tossing a complete game shutout while allowing only 2 hits on 81 pitches. Kessell dominated from the jump and showed confidence in a 3-pitch mix, working ahead of hitters frequently and pitching to contact. Fittingly enough, he induced a game-ending double play on a comebacker to the mound to preserve his shutout. Final line: 7 IP 0 R 2 H 1 BB 5 K.

Offensively for Florida, Max Murray (2-2, 2B, RBI) led the way putting his team up 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st with a liner to right that brought home Cash Strayer. A few innings later Murray hit a rocket over SS that skipped all the way to the wall for a 2B as he was clearly locked in at the dish in the opening game. Stephen Chucka and Zach Beyra both collected deep extra base hits in the 6-0 win.

Florida 14U will take on New Jersey 14U tonight at 5 pm.

13U - Florida 14 Pennsylvania 6

The bats came out hot for the 13U Florida squad. Back to back 6 run innings in the 4th and 5th innings proved to be the knockout blow. Ethan Barclay (2-2, 3B, RBI) led the way for the Florida Boys. Francis Garcia (2-2, 3 RBI) blasted a bases clearing double to right center to pad the lead.

Wilson Andersen started on the bump and looked crisp out of the gate. Andersen went the first 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 4 with a loose, quick arm and blowing FBs by hitters up to 82 mph. MJ Hough followed Andersen and was able to keep hitters off balance for 3 innings.

Notables

Kasey Mink: 1-2, 2B, RBI

Erick Robles: RBI 2B

Dylan Messina: RBI 1B

Florida 13U will take on Oklahoma 13U tonight at 7:15 pm.
