2021 Senior State Games: South Region Analysis

The 2021 Senior State Games took place Saturday, September 25th and Sunday, September 26th at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, FL. The event featured players from the 2022 class representing their region of North, South, East, and West Florida participating in a pro-style workout followed by 3 total games per region in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

The weekend was full of talent from all 4 regions, but the South finished at the top going 3-0 throughout the event. To view all the stats from the event, check out our Stats Story. Today we will continue with our Player Analysis breaking down each player's tools and projection through complete scouting reports. We will continue with the South Region. Take a look.

South Region Analysis

KC Anchors C / 1B / Elite Squad Academy, FL / 2022

6-foot-1, 205-pound strong athletic build. Solid at the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 91 mph. (61.69 mph bat speed average). (21.21 mph hand speed average). Begins in a tall stance with a rhythmic load, then uses a short controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, uses a short simple swing plane and high finish. Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap line drive approach. Behind the plate, his best throw downs of the day reached a max velocity of 78 mph; had smooth footwork, soft consistent hands, and a quick transfer. displayed next-level catching ability by boasting a 1.97-2.11 pop time. Tons of flexibility and athletic setup. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a ¾ slot with a quick arm action. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.14.

David Bauer OF / SS / Cardinal Gibbons, FL / 2022

5-foot-9, 145-pound lean athletic frame. Athletic in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 88 mph. (63.40 mph bat speed average). (21.67 mph hand speed average). Started in a crouched open stance with a quick controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was quick, had a level swing plane and level finish. Had some loud contact and found some barrels. Line drive approach. Solid from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 85 mph; showed consistent hands, a quick exchange, and smooth athletic feet. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Showed a long arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.57.

Jack Bello 1B / LHP / Cardinal Newman, FL / 2022

6-foot-3, 205-pound solid physical frame. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 96 mph. (63.16 mph bat speed average). (18.46 mph hand speed average). Began in an athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then used a short toe tap stride. Bat speed was explosive, had a short swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls with a lot of loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Solid in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 84 mph; had a clean natural exchange, soft consistent hands, and smooth footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a time of 8.06 in the 60-yard dash. Solid on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a ¾ arm angle and a long loose arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Even shoulders and an athletic balance point. Lands square with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 84-86 mph with a max of 87 mph; has running action and command around the zone with heavy movement. (Max spin 2229; Avg 2186). Jameson Caro OF / Miami Christian , FL / 2022

6-foot-2, 198-pound solid mature frame. Above average at the plate, Caro clocked an exit velocity of 98 mph. (65.67 mph bat speed average). (21.35 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced stance with a slow rhythmic load, then used a short leg kick. Bat speed was electric, had a short swing plane and high finish. Was able to create a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Above average throwing from the outfield, he displayed power in his arm with throws up to 92 mph; shows smooth athletic feet, a clean natural exchange, and consistent hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a very quick arm action with a high ¾ slot. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.99.

Nehemiah Cook RHP / OF / Eustis, FL / 2022

6-foot-3, 190-pound solid athletic frame. Solid on the mound, used a ¾ arm angle with a short arm action while showing quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. Showed athletic balance point and even shoulders. Lands square with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 82-84 mph and topped out at 85 mph; had a heavy fastball that showed hard running action and command around the zone. (Max spin 2285; Avg 2093). Threw a sharp changeup (74-77) with down in the zone command and late fading action. He showed down in the zone command and slurvey action on his tight slider (70-73). (Max spin 2215; Avg 2090).

Evan Dobias RHP / American Heritage Plantation, FL / 2022

Virginia Commit, 6-foot-1, 185-pound strong mature frame. Solid on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a long arm action and a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses decent effort. Even shoulders with an consistent balance point. Lands square with balanced finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 86-89 mph and topped out at 90 mph; showed slight running action and command around the zone with heavy movement. (Max spin 2394; Avg 2014). He shows swing and miss action and down in the zone command on his tight curveball (75-77). (Max spin 2551; Avg 2254). Had sweeping action and in the zone command on his sharp slider (77-79). Adrian Dominguez 3B / 1B / Monsignor Pace, FL / 2022

Austin Fawley C / 3B / Park Vista, FL / 2022

Kentucky Commit, 6-foot-2, 187-pound physical mature frame. Solid projectable at the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 95 mph. (64.63 mph bat speed average). (22.39 mph hand speed average). Begins in a tall balanced stance with a quick load, then uses a short controlled stride. Bat speed is electric, has a short swing plane and good extension on his finish. During his round he produced a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. While catching, his strong arm produced efficient throws to second at velocities up to 83 mph; shows next level consistent hands, a quick natural transfer, and athletic feet. displayed next-level catching ability by boasting a 1.93-2.01 pop time. Jayden Hylton 1B / OF / Palm Beach Gardens, FL / 2022

Stetson Commit, 6-foot-6, 210-pound physical athletic frame. Solid above average at the plate, the right-handed hitter's 102 mph exit velocity ranks him 3rd at the event. (72.68 mph bat speed average). (21.32 mph hand speed average). Starts in a tall balanced stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then uses a short leg kick. Bat speed is electric, uses an upward swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with tons of loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Solid above average in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 84 mph; had a clean natural exchange, consistent hands, and smooth footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Used a long arm action and a ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.88.

Lou Paolillo RHP / 3B / Cardinal Newman , FL / 2022

6-foot-2, 215-pound solid mature build. Solid above average on the mound, showing quick arm speed he used a long arm action and a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses decent effort. Even shoulders and an athletic balance point. Lands square with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 82-85 mph with a max of 86 mph; showed hard action and control around the zone with heavy movement. (Max spin 2391; Avg 2063). Jacob Smith RHP / OF / JP Taravella , FL / 2022

Pacific Commit, 6-foot-4, 214-pound solid physical frame. Solid during batting practice, Smith's best exit velocity was 91 mph. Alex Walsh LHP / OF / Oxbridge Academy, FL / 2022

Texas Tech Commit, 6-foot-4, 180-pound long athletic build. Solid projectable on the mound, using a long arm action he showed quick arm speed from a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows decent effort. Balance point is tall with uphill shoulders during delivery. Lands closed with a falling off finish.
