2023 Preseason Classic: Day 4 Recap

The 2023 PBR FL Preseason Classic continued Thursday, February 16th at Lawnwood Sports Complex in Fort Pierce, FL. Day 4 started with a matchup of TNXL Academy vs IMG Academy at 4:00 and ESB Academy vs Foundation Academy at 7:00.

Game 7

Day 4 of the 2023 Preseason Classic kicked off with a big matchup between TNXL Academy and IMG Academy. For TNXL, Jacksonville recruit Peyton Prescott got the start. Prescott was very effective in his start getting his fastball up to 94 mph. He worked five innings allowing one run with nine strikeouts.


For IMG, Arkansas recruit
Jaewoo Cho got the start. The right hander went three innings allowing two hits and three runs.

TNXL got the scoring started early and never looked back. Jack Lines and Charles Davalan started things off with singles. A series of errors by IMG led to three early runs as TNXL led 3-0 after one.

IMG got their first and only run of the game in the 5th. Walker Barron led things off with a single and was later driven in on a RBI double from Zion Rose.

In relief for IMG was LHP Noah Franco. The junior worked three clean innings with five strikeouts. He ran the fastball up to 91 mph.


Senior
Harbersting Abreu closed things out for TNXL with two shutout innings. TNXL Academy would go on to defeat IMG Academy 3-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Game 8

Thursday night at the Preseason Classic featured Elite Squad Baseball Academy taking on Foundation Academy. Getting the start for Elite Squad was uncommitted RHP Enrique Sierra. Sierra was very effective throwing four shutout innings while racking up six strikeouts. Sierra ran the fastball up to 89 mph.


On the other side, Maine recruit
Nathan Seeber got the start for Foundation Academy. Seeber kept Elite Squad off the scoreboard as he pitched four shutout innings with five strikeouts.

Foundation looked to score first with baserunners in the second. Trey Smith lined a single to center but ESB Academy CF Devan Meran cut the runner down at home to keep things scoreless.

Elite Squad would open the scoring in the 5th with a big inning. Manny Marin got things going with a two-RBI double to right. Back to back bases loaded walks led to two more runs for Elite Squad giving them a 4-0 lead.

Following Sierra, uncommitted Ryan Vargas came on in relief for ESB Academy. He worked two scoreless innings to close things out as Elite Squad Baseball Academy defeated Foundation Academy 4-0.
