'22 Future Games: Game 2 & 3 Recap

The 2022 PBR Future Games continued July 29-30th at LakePoint with Team Florida playing their second and third games of the week. Game 2 was a matchup against Team Mid-Atlantic on Friday night while Game 3 took place on a rainy Saturday night vs Team Massachusetts.

Game 2 Recap

Game 2 of the 2022 PBR Future Games featured Team Florida taking on Team Mid-Atlantic. Middle-Atlantic features players from the Maryland and Virginia areas and always produces premier talent. ‘24 RHP Robert Mitchell started for Team Florida going the first two innings. Mitchell allowed 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 2. He ran the fastball up to 88 mph.


Team Florida scored first as ‘24
Cayden Hessemyer led off with a single and scored. In the 2nd, ‘25 Riley McDonald and ‘24 Joshua Hanson singled. ‘24 Zane Pestalozzi drove an elevated fastball to left center for a 2 RBi double. Hessemyer and ‘24 Kyle Boylston both added RBI singles in the 2nd.


Following Mitchell on the mound was ‘24
Ethan Burkhardt. He went two shutout innings striking out 4 while up to 87 with the fastball. Burkhardt helped himself out in the 5th with an RBI single at the plate.


‘24
David Martin threw 2 shutout innings in the 5th and 6th. He struck out 2 and was up to 88 mph. ‘25 Riley McDonald would close things out with a shutout 7th inning. He was up to 88 as well.

Team Florida would go on to defeat Team Mid-Atlantic 9-2. Ethan Burkhardt would win Player of the Game going 2-3 and striking out 4 over 2 shutout innings.


Game 3 Recap

Team Florida closed out the 2022 Future Games on a rainy Saturday night vs Team Massachusetts. ‘24 Kaiden Lopez and ‘25 Jalen Foxx were the first two arms to throw from Florida. ‘24 Robert Mitchell came back after throwing Friday and struck out the side.

Offensively, ‘24 Kyle Boylston got the scoring started driving in Tracen Cameron with an RBI double to left. ‘24s Joshua Hanson and James George Gilson would add RBI singles later on.


Florida would add several more runs on walks and wild pitches.

‘25 Riley McDonald threw 2 innings in relief, allowing no runs with the fastball up to 88 mph. ‘24s Cayden Hessemyer and Tracen Cameron closed out the last 2 innings as Florida would defeat Massachusetts 8-3 to close out the 2022 Future Games.

Cameron would win Player of the Game going 2-3 with a double and a 1-2-3 8th inning to close.
