'22 Junior Future Games: Day 4-6 Recap

The 2022 PBR Junior Future Games continued at LakePoint July 29-31. Team Florida 13u and 14u continued their tournament runs all the way up until Sunday. Take a look at recaps of the last 3 days of game action.

13u JFG Game Recaps

Game 3 vs. Alabama 13u

Once again the bats started off hot for Team Florida, putting up 4 runs in the 1st two innings. CJ Wall got things started with a walk then proceeded to steal 2nd and 3rd. He later scored on a wild pitch. In the 2nd, Bryce Besece walked and stole second. Followed by walks from Alex Wise and Hudson Sapp, CJ Wall would continue to stay hot with a bases clearing triple. Things were relatively quiet for the next couple innings until Team Alabama erupted for 7 runs in the 4th. Team Florida would cut the lead to just 1 in the bottom half on a RBI single from Carter Campbell. Alabama would add 2 insurance runs and Florida would fall 9-6. 

Game 4 vs. MoKan 13u

The 13u boys came out swinging Saturday. Hudson Sapp started off the game with a single and stole 2nd but would ultimately be left stranded. MoKan went up in the bottom half of the 1st. Florida would answer back with a Homerun from Jackson Haughey and a double from Alex Wise. Cameron Hanes settled in after the 1st, striking out 4 in his 4 innings and only allowing 2 hits after the 1st inning. The bats would explode in the 4th for Team Florida. JD James started the inning off with a walk and then would score on a Carter Campbell triple. Alex Wise would follow up with a RBI single. CJ Wall, Daniel Padilla, and JD James would all also single in the inning resulting in 6 more runs. Team Florida would win 14-2 in 4 innings. 

Game 5 vs. Indiana 13u

Hudson Sapp got the ball for the 13u Silver Bracket semifinal game on Sunday, shutting out Indiana for the 1st two innings. Camden Boehm would come in relief allowing only 2 runs over 5 innings of work. Offensively things got started in the top of the 1st with a leadoff double from Hudson Sapp. Jackson Haughey would later single, scoring Sapp. An error in the inning would make the score 2-0. Things would slow down until the 6th when CJ Wall hit a triple and was brought in on a Jackson Haughey sac-fly. Indiana would cut the deficit to just 1 with 2 runs in the bottom half of the 6th. After a few walks in the 7th the 13u boys would add a few insurance runs on a Hudson Sapp bases clearing 3RBI triple and advance to the Silver Bracket Championship.

Game 6 vs. Missouri 13u

In the championship game the ball would go to Bryce Besece. The ‘27 would hold Missouri to just 2 runs through 4 innings of work. For the 1st time all tournament the offense started slow. The game cruised through the first 3 innings with both teams being held scoreless. In the 4th Missouri would open up the scoring with 2 runs which were immediately answered in the bottom half by Team Florida on 3 consecutive singles by CJ Wall, Daniel Padilla, and Camden Boehm. Padilla would score on a Bryce Besece sac-fly and then Carson Cocco would single in Boehm with 2 outs. Carter Campbell would come in relief, throwing 3 shutout innings to close the game out. Insurance runs would be added on a 2RBI double by CJ Wall in the 5th and an RBI triple from Carson Cocco in the 6th. Team Florida would go on to win the Silver Bracket Championship 6-2 over Team Missouri. 

14u JFG Game Recaps

Game 3 vs. Arizona 14u

Team Florida 14u continued what they did all week long on Friday, and that was hit. Yavier Rosendo and Dylan Messina singled in the 1st. Cooper Riley tripled in the 2nd and Presley Moseley drove him in with a single. In the 3rd, Cannon Murtagh singled. Following 2 walks, Lucas Cannady drove in 3 runs with a triple, and Presley Moseley added another RBI single. More runs were scored in the 4th as Angel Rodriguez drove in 2 with a single and Erick Robles drove in 2 more with a triple.

Kaden Waechter started on the mound for Florida. He went 2 scoreless innings allowing no hits with 2 strikeouts. Presley Moseley would go 2 shutout innings as well allowing just 1 hit with 2 strikeouts. Team Florida 14U would knock off Team Arizona 10-0 in 4 innings.

Game 4 vs Kentucky 14u

Team Florida 14u took on Kentucky in the first round of the Silver Bracket on Sunday. LHP Mateu Dalmau got the start for Team Florida. Dalmau would go 4.1 innings allowing 5 runs with 9 strikeouts.

Offensively, Team Florida was held scoreless until the 3rd. Following a Kasey Mink single and hit by pitch, Yavier Rosendo would double to deep left to drive in 2 runs and tie the game at 2. Kentucky would take back the lead in the 3rd and open things up going up 6-2 in the 5th.

In the 6th, Florida was able to get one back on an Eli Millian RBI double. Down 6-3 in the 7th, Florida was down to their last chance. Cannon Murtagh doubled to lead things off. Erick Robles smoked a line drive back up the middle, but the pitcher made a fantastic play to catch it and pick Murtagh off 2nd. With 2 outs, Presley Moseley and Cooper Riley singled. Eli Millian drove in Moseley but the tying runs were stranded on base as Kentucky 14u would defeat Florida 6-4.
