The 2018 Preseason Classic, which featured six high school teams, was attended by more than 130 professional scouts over the three day event. 2018 saw a pair of first rounders in Mason Denaburg and Carter Stewart throw back to back. Also featured in the first Preseason Classsic was 2rd round pick Lyon Richardson, as well as Brandon Howlett, David Luethje, Elijah Cabell, Nick Pogue, Brady Allen and Noah Dickerson who were all taken in the 2018 MLB Draft as well.

The 2019 Preseason Classic, which will be held at IMG Academy this year, looks to follow up on the major success of the 2018 Classic. 2019 will not only see four top high school programs, it will also see four top junior college programs.

IMG Academy will feature six players who are currently ranked in the top 50 of Florida’s 2019 Class. Leading the way in the No 1 overall prospect in the state, RHP Brennan Malone. Another right-hander in the top ten, is the No 9 prospect in Florida Kendall Williams. IMG will also feature a pair of infielders in No 5 Rece Hinds and No 14 Josh Rivera, with Jax Cash and Kyle Westfall also coming in the top 50.

TNXL Academy is equally as deep, with a combination of both 2019 MLB Draft talent and young talent to follow. Leading the way on the mound for the Ducks is No 12, RHP Joseph Charles. Offensively, the No 22 overall prospect leads the way in outfielder Hylan Hall. TNXL also has RHP Hamilton Martinez and catcher Doug Kirkland to follow.

Sickles and Central Pointe also have prospects and talented overall teams. Sickles top prospect is RHP Dylan Eskew and Central Pointe’s top prospect is outfielder Justin Tejada. Both teams have deep, young talent who will be players to follow going forward into 2019 spring and beyond.

The junior college slate is equally as talented and deep. With the No 2 prospect in Florida, RHP Hunter Perdue, and No 5 prospect in Florida RHP Haden Erbe both scheduled to throw in the event. Chipola, who is back-to-back national champions, features No 4 prospect Ivan Johnson and St Petersburg College featuring LHP Quinton Martinez.

Overall, there will be eleven players who made the initial Florida Junior College Top 50 prospects list.
