Tampa, FL - A long Tuesday night featured a matchup between two rivals in Bishop McLaughlin taking on host Tampa Catholic. Bishop sent their ace to the mound in 2021 RHP Tanner Boccabello (SJRS). A physical 6-foot-3, 215 pound right hander, Boccabello looked much looser on the mound than he had been in his last start I saw him and it showed in the velo. Calm, repeatable delivery mixing four pitches for strikes. He sat 88-90 T91 with the fastball. 74-77 with the slider, 72-74 with the curveball, and 78-81 with the changeup. Boccabello would go 7 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out 6.

On the other side, Tampa Catholic started uncommitted 2022 RHP Michael Richards. Richards was very effective for TC allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Was able to generate soft contact and swings and misses with the breaking ball.
