Canterbury defeats #15 Naples 9-1

Headed down to Terry Park last night to see Naples take on Canterbury. Austin Schrowe got the start for the Cougars and he dominated. Finishing with 7 strikeouts over 4 shutout innings. The Cougars got off to a hot start when they put up a 5 spot in the bottom of the 1st. AJ Finco, Evan Taveras, and Austin Schrowe all had singles in the inning while Tyler Bouchard blew the game wide open with his 2 RBI triple. Naples would look to threaten in the top half on back to back singles from Brandon Garcia and Tucker Hansen but Schrowe got out of the jam unscathed. Canterbury would add another run in the 2nd after a Joseph De La Nuez single and Evan Taveras RBI.

Things were quiet in the 3rd as Schrowe continued to shine and Naples reliever Brendan Murphy settled in. In the bottom half of the 4th, the Cougars continued to expand their lead. De La Nuez doubled followed by 2 walks and a hit-by-pitch. Jaden Ascolese then hit a sac-fly to put the Cougars up 8-0. Naples got their first run on the board in the 6th on a Michael Graziano single and Reilley Witmer RBI single.

Canterbury would immediately answer back when Tyler Bouchard led off the 6th with a triple and then later scored on an RBI single from Ascolese. The Eagles would get a runner on in the 7th but couldn’t get anything else going.
