Combined No-Hitter and Offensive Firepower Drive No 3 Niceville to a 12-1 Win

Niceville, FL- The No 3 Niceville Eagles came lived up to every expectation on day two of the Panhandle trip. The Eagles jumped out to and early lead in the first. A leadoff triple from FGCU recruit Nic Nolan, followed by a single from Noah Bailey and RBI single from LSU recruit Rece Hinds would give Niceville a quick 1-0 lead. Then, sacrifice flyouts from Connor Walsh and Chance Huff would have the Eagles up 1-0 heading into the bottom of the first.

Vanderbilt recruit Chance Huff would get the start on the mound for the Eagles and the 2018 MLB Draft prospect would overpower the Crestview lineup. The right-hander worked 90-93 mph with his fastball in the first, showing some late arm side action. He also would pause during his delivery, creating some deception for hitters. Huff would attack with all but one fastball in the first, striking out one.

The top of the order would leadoff the second for Niceville and would draw three consecutive walks. An RBI single from Dawson Marshall, followed by an RBI single from Hunter Hansil would extend the Eagle lead to 5-0 in the second. Huff proceeded to dominate the second, striking out the side all on fastballs working 90-92 mph. After nearly batting around the order for the second time in two innings, Nolan would leadoff with a single. Bailey would then draw a walk before Hinds would drive a fastball deep over the left-center field fence for a home run and extend the lead to 8-0.

Huff would return for the third,while the command was scattered at times, he continued to overpower the Crestview lineup. Huff would work in two different breaking balls the second time through the order. Working with a hard, two-plane slider at 82-85 mph and a 73-78 mph curveball with depth, especially when thrown harder. The fastball settled in mostly 89-91 mph and generated eleven swing and misses.

A pair of walks, a hit-by-pitch and RBIs from Nolan and Wash would drive across four more runs in the fourth for Niceville. Huff would exit the fourth after allowing a run on four walks and striking out two. Hansail would relieve Huff and strand the bases loaded. Hansail would then work around his own error, striking out the side in the fifth and preserving the combined no-hitter in a 12-1 win for No 3 Niceville.

LSU recruit. One of the top 2019s in the country looks to have grown and filled out. The frame is large and athletic with a strong lower half. Moves well at third and has a plus arm as throws have plenty of carry. Offensively, was 2-2 with a pair of walks, a single and home run. He looks comfortable in the box, works with rhythm and uses the lower half extremely well. Low effort, high impact swing with natural leverage. There is bat to ball skills with present power and plus power potential. Could have best power potential in the 2019 class.
