Crawford Mosley Among 16-Team Field At NHSI

USA Baseball has put together another star studded 16-team field for the 2015 National High School Invitational, set to take place March 25-28 at the National Training Complex in Cary, NC. This will be the fourth installment of the NHSI. California’s Mater Dei HS won the first two NHSI championships, taking down Harvard-Westlake HS, CA, in 2012 and 2013. In 2014, The First Academy, FL, beat Clovis HS, CA.

Given the level of talent the NHSI offers, it’s the top destination for scouts during the spring season. In three years, 64 players have been drafted that were on a participating team’s roster. Seven from the 2014 NHSI were selected in the top 50 picks. The 2015 crop doesn’t have as much talent at the top, but several players could take advantage of the spotlight and have breakout performances.

This year's teams are no different and Florida's own Crawford Mosley HS will be representing.

In 2014, the Dolphins went 27-4 and reached the elite eight of Florida’s 6A playoffs. Nine players, six of which were starters, are returning from that run and Mosley is getting a significant impact via transfer. Junior LHP/OF J.J. Bleday (Vanderbilt) moved from Pennsylvania and will immediately bolster the middle of the lineup and the front of the pitching rotation. The Dolphins pride themselves on being fundamentally sound and SS Clay Causey is the epitome of that, having committed just six errors in three years as the starting shortstop. A three-time all-state selection, he hit .455 as a junior. His double play partner, sophomore Brendan Fox, was a second team all-state selection as a freshman and hit over .400.
