FHSAA Playoffs: Jesuit Wins 6A Regional Championship

Jesuit High School won the 6A Regional Championship last night, defeating Dunnellon High School by a score of 10-0 in just 5 innings. 2020 Wake Forest commit, Camden Minacci kept Dunnellon off the scoreboard throwing four shutout innings, allowing only one hit with four strikeouts. The tall, lanky right-hander struggled with his command but worked quickly and mixed pitches well to keep hitters off balance.

Getting the start for Dunnellon was 2019 two-sport athlete, Maurice Goolsby. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Goolsby, (signed to play football at Florida State) is a tall, lanky left-hander with a ¾ arm slot that also showed his ability on the offensive side by launching a double off the right-center wall for Dunnellon’s only hit of the game.
Errors led to Dunnellon’s downfall as five errors led to three unearned runs for Jesuit. 2020 Uncommitted Joseph Casale led the way on offense for Jesuit with two hits, including a double and two RBI. 2019 Uncommitted Jimmy Clifford also added two hits and two RBI for Jesuit. Jesuit as a team stole six bases, helping themselves by getting into scoring position. Defensively, third baseman Nick Rodriguez flashed the leather making a couple nice plays with his backhand and following them with strong throws to first. Jesuit advances to the State Semifinals where they will play Miami Springs on May 31 at 1:00 PM in Fort Myers.
