FL Insider: Central Florida Notebook

By Doug Freeman
Florida Scouting Director

The central Florida area is always loaded with talent, with this year being no different. This time of year though, teams from all around the state converge on the central Florida area for multiple spring break tournaments. Over the course of the week we have covered the Florida League High School Invitational while also attending games at University Orange City and Montverde Academy. First we will break down day two at the FHSI which featured the 2017 USF commit Jose Visaez and University Christian.

José Visaez, RHP, University Christian (2017)
The USF commit worked a fastball that ranged from 89-91 mph with some late life from a 3/4 slot. Although he struggled with command at times, when it was down in the zone it showed the late life. He also showed a slider with decent shape at 73-77 mph.  He has a strong lower half and his head is calm through the delivery. He should be able to find more consistency with the fastball and the slider projects to be a solid pitch

Moving about 25 minutes away from the FHSI I took in University Orange City vs. Winter Springs. Logan Allen and Nathan Peden stood out.
