This event is held for the top 2019s-2022s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.

We will begin to spotlight each and every player in attendance. Today, we look at OF/RHP AJ Shaver (South Lake, 2020). The Florida State recruit is currently ranked No. 33 in Florida and No. 191 Overall.

Scouting Report

10/20/18 - Florida State commit. 6-foot-2, 197-pounds, right-handed outfielder, strong, athletic frame. Offensively, hands work athletically through the zone, line drive approach with developing power to the pull-side, gap-to-gap potential. Consistently makes hard contact.

09/15/18- Florida State recruit. 6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way prospect, strong, durable frame. Drop and drive delivery, smooth rhythm, works quickly, high volume of strikes. Short arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball, running and sinking life to it, commanded the zone with, especially effective running underneath right-handed hitters’ hands, sat 85-87. Offered up a 12/6 curveball sparingly, 76 mph. Pitched two shutout innings to closed out the championship game against Orlando Scorpions, walked one, struckout three.

08/15/18- Florida State recruit. Average frame with broad shoulders, athletic build. Present strength and athleticism. Solid physically. Quick bat with good hands. Level, line drive path. Will be hit over power . Consistent hard contact. Simply a good hitter. 90 EV. Some pull  power, which translated to a home run in game play, but mostly hits hard line drives. Will generate consistent, hard contact with average to above average power. Fundamentally sound and could fill in at center but probably ends up in right field due to strong arm and advanced bat. 6.85 60. Solid player with no true holes in game. Will go as far as his bat takes him. Can really hit and will play solid outfield. Strong arm and is in the mid-upper 80’s on mound.

08/06/17- Very athletic, physical athlete. Everything is still a bit raw, but has an extremely high ceiling both on the mound and offensively. On the mound, he has a fastball ranging from 85-86 mph with late life when down in the zone. He can get sporadic with the command at times, but the arm really works. Offensively, he has above average bat speed and present strength. He can get rotational at times, but is athletic enough to consistently  make hard contact. He has one of the highest ceiling in the class.
