The Florida Preseason All-State has quickly become the premier Preseason event in the state of Florida. Over the first two years there have been over 100 committed players in attendance and counting. This event is held for the top 2019s-2022s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.

We will begin to spotlight each and every player in attendance. Today, we look at OF Brandon Fields (Dr. Phillips, 2020). A South Carolina commit, Fields is ranked No. 18 in Florida and No. 102 Nationally.

Scouting Report

01/27/18- Uncommitted. Physically advanced;. Plays running back at Dr. Phillips. Plus strength-athleticism combo. Compact build with presently advanced fill. Raw at the plate but flashed plus potential. Very quick through the zone. Bat is an exciting project. Has swing and miss, but athleticism and consistent reps will improve his overall offensive game. Has present raw power especially to pull side. Throws to the bag topped out at 88 mph from the outfield. Clocked in at at 6.89 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. His arm and speed combined with explosive offensive potential gives him flexibility as a centerfield/right field profile. Although his offensive tools are unpolished, he showed baseball IQ especially on the basepaths.

10/08/16- 5-foot-10, 180 pounder with a physical, athletic, build with a strong lower half. Displays above average bat speed at the plate with quick hands. On the base paths, he is aggressive and takes advantage of fielder’s mistakes. Gets good jumps on the pitcher. In the outfield his athleticism and speed allow him to run down anything into the gaps. Possesses smart baseball instincts and as he logs more at-bats, improves his mechanics, he will continue to be a high follow for his class.

9/17/16- The 5-foot-10, 180 pound physical OF/3B shows high end athleticism and a lot of quick twitch actions. He has stood out before and continues to become more and more physical. With that increased physicality has come a little stiffness, but he was still impressive. At the plate, he has a bit of a wrapped top hand, but still creates plus bat speed for his class. The swing is a little shouldered and he tended to cut himself off before getting fully extended, but when he gets fully extended the ball jumps off of the bat. As he continues to figure out the mechanics and his body, the high end bat speed and hand-eye coordination could lend to some high-end power in the future. Even with some of these adjustments he can make, he still drove the ball to the pull side in batting practice as well as a double off of the left field wall in the game. Defensively, he moves extremely well in the outfield. He shows the ability to really be able to go get the baseball. He currently relies on his athleticism to get him in the right spot, but showed a few really good routes as well. Also showed an average arm with some effort. Overall, the pure athleticism could not get much better for someone his age and the potential is limitless. There are some things that will need to be cleaned up in the swing to hit higher level pitching, but there is no reason to believe these things won’t happen with more at-bats under his belt.

6/6/15 - 5-foot-9 160 pounds with an athletic and lean body with strength. Good rhythm at the plate with a good separation for his load. Slightly open in his stance and gets into a strong hitting position before he starts his swing. He has a nice swing plane and the ball jumps off his bat. Appears to be an above average runner.
