Scouting Report

08/15/18- Stocky, wide build. Lots of present strength. Has rhythm and makes hard contact. 91 EV. Violent hacks with aggression. Chance for above average power with strength and swing aggression. Does a nice job transferring energy through front of swing. Has barrell awareness and advanced approach.Really good catch-and-throw guy. Quick transfer and has the strength to realistically throw to second from knees. Blocking will develop as body develops. Will have the hand strength to handle velocity with ease. 77 C. 1.91 pop. Power and catch-and-throw profile. Will always be a strength-based player. Overall, has present tools both offensively and defensively to make him one of the top players in 2020 class.

1/27/18- West Virginia recruit. Currently stands 6-foot, 190 pounds. Defensively behind the plate he showed good mechanics and ability to defend ball in the dirt. He recorded a pop time of 2.08-2.17 seconds with his throws to the bag topping out at 75 mph. Offensively, he showed the ability to clear his hips quickly using a strong lower half with gap to gap power. Makes consistent, hard contact with a feel for the barrel. He registered an exit velocity of 95 mph in the cage. Clocked in at 7.91 seconds for his 60-yard dash time.

08/18/17 - Recent West Virginia commit coming off of an impressive Future Games continues to impress. The catching continues to improve and will be a solid defensive catcher. Offensively, his bat is his best tool. He is balanced with an advanced approach and feel for hitting. There is gap-to-gap power with more to come in the future.

08/14/17- Committed to West Virginia University.

08/06/17- Holbrook stood out at the Preseason All-State event and has continued to lean out and improve each time we have seen him. He was one of two players to have a hit in all three games, leading the way for Team Florida with five hits in three games. He has an advanced approach and above average bat speed for his class. He consistently works back to the middle of the field and has gap-to-gap power with more to come. Defensively, he shows quality actions behind the plate, but additional flexibility can help him get into better receiving positions consistently. He shows a solid transfer and pop times ranging from 2.07- 2.15. The bat is going to play and will continue to get better as he continues to get stronger.

06/21/17 - Currently ranked No. 32 in the Florida 2020 Class. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds the right handed hitting catcher appears to have leaned out and continued to improve the swing. He has cut down some of the length and the gap-to-gap power has continued to improve. Swing translates to the game where he has a balanced lower half and a feel for the barrel.  Defensively,  he is becoming more flexible and stays in better positions with soft hands and strong wrists. Projects as an above average defensive catcher. On the mound, he has a short arm action and pounds the zone at 80-82. High two-way follow.

01/21/17 - The 5-foot-11, 180-pound C/RHP showed the ability to throw strikes with all three pitches. With fluid mechanics, the arm action is clean. The fastball ranged from 77-78 mph and could jump with improved extension. Also showed a feel for the slider at 64 mph and a changeup at 72-73 mph. Offensively, the right handed hitter shows a short, direct path to the ball. With quality rhythm and a good path, he projects to have pull side power as he continues to add strength. Defensively, behind the plate he is a solid, sound receiver. He shows a quick and clean transfer with pop times ranging from 2.0-2.1 that will continue to improve with strength. Overall, very intriguing young two-way talent.

11/12/16- 5-foot-10, 180-pounder has a stocky frame with a thick lower half. The right handed hitter has good rhythm in his setup with a strong, balanced lower half in his swing. He is able to clear his lower half creating a good path through the zone. He has a feel for the barrel and some present power for his class with more to come. Defensively, he has good hands, but will need to continue to improve flexibility in his setup. He also has a somewhat long transfer, but has a strong arm resulting in his best pop time of 2.27. On the mound, the righty has a quick delivery with a long arm action and big circle in the back. Some effort in delivery. Fastball ranged from 74-77 mph while the change up was clocked at 63-64 mph. Slowed down arm speed on the change and tended to deliver the CB with a lower elbow not allowing him to get on top of the pitch. The curve ball was clocked at 60-61 mph. Very interesting young prospect, especially offensively.
