Florida 2022 Rankings: Five Biggest Risers

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Our national Class of 2022 rankings were updated last week and the list saw three players from the state of Florida crack the top ten in the country. OF Elijah Green came in at #3, LHP Brandon Barriera at #8, and 3B Sal Stewart at #9. This 2022 class is loaded with young talent from the state of Florida, and we will be sure to see more players climb the national rankings.

With the update of the national 2022 rankings comes an update of the Florida 2022 rankings. The top of the list remains the same with Elijah Green, Brandon Barriera, and Sal Stewart coming in as our top three. At #4 is Bloomingdale SS Colby Shelton, who continues his ascend into the national spotlight. Rounding out the top five is outfielder and Florida State commit Jordan Taylor. In this rankings update, we had many players climb our rankings as well as some newcomers join the rankings for the first time. With that being said, today we will take a look at five of the biggest risers in the Florida Class of 2022 rankings.

Our newest member of the top 20 is RHP Ryan Denison (Jesuit). He makes the jump all the way up to #17 in our rankings. Denison is a tall, athletic 6-foot-4, 190 pound right-hander who shined on the bump this past summer. Denison was impressive at the PBR Florida State Games for Empire Baseball, and committed to Florida State shortly after the tournament. He is a big kid with a ton of projectability. His fastball has been up to 87 mph, and we’re sure to see that climb as he continues to get older.

The second of our biggest risers is LHP Bradley Hodges (St. John’s Country Day). He is now up to #41 in the state of Florida. Hodges was a standout at our UCF Underclass games this past June which ultimately earned him an invitation to the PBR Future Games where he did not disappoint. He was very effective in two appearances on the hill with his fastball sitting 82-84 mph. Showed above-average secondary pitches with good command of the zone. He went on to commit to the University of Virginia shortly after the event.
