Florida 2023 Rankings Update

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Another summer in the books down in the Sunshine State, and the Class of 2023 continues to look better each year. A class full of bats, arms, and two-way talents that look to make big impacts at the next level. The Class of 2023 is especially special in Florida as both the committed and uncommitted talent continue to compete at a high level. A lot has changed since our last update in the Spring. With a full summer of baseball in the past, it is time to update our Florida Class of 2023 rankings once again.

3B/RHP Aidan Miller continues to be the premier talent in the state. An Arkansas commit from JW Mitchell, Miller is one of the top two-way talents in the entire 2023 class. Boasts a physical 6-foot-2, 195 pound frame. Strength throughout the frame with the ability to drive the ball with power to all fields and run the fastball up to 95 mph. Miller has a tremendous ceiling as a two-way with an elite ability to impact the game on both sides.

At No. 2 3B/SS
Braden Holcomb makes the jump one spot. A Vanderbilt commit from Foundation Academy, Holcomb has one of the biggest impact bats in the class. Elite power to all fields coming from a 6-foot-4, 215 pound frame. Whether it’s 3rd base or shortstop, Holcomb moves well enough for his size to stick on the left side of the infield. The hit and power tools will continue to rise him up draft boards come 2023. Holcomb has also been up to 95 mph on the mound.

SS
Cade Kurland comes in at the No. 3 spot. An athletic middle infielder from Berkeley Prep. The Florida commit has shown the ability to be on time and on the barrel consistently making him an elite top of the order hitter. Kurland has the ability to shoot both gaps with intent and show off power potential as well. Bat speed is elite, allowing him to get to any pitch around the plate. Defensively, Kurland is one of the better defenders in the class at short. Quick twitch actions with above average hands and an above average to plus arm. Kurland will be an impact player at the next level with a high baseball IQ and all around talent.

At No. 4 is another elite two-way in LHP/OF
Wes Mendes. A Vandy commit from Jesuit, Mendes looks to be the next top prospect out of Jesuit. Physical athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. 6.6 runner with a plus arm from the left side. Continues to make jumps on the mound as he is now up to 92 mph on the mound. Right handed hitter offensively with easy gap to gap power. A lot to like in this two-way athlete.

Rounding out the top 5 is another tremendous two-way talent in SS/RHP
Landen Maroudis. Maroudis is a NC State commit from Calvary Christian. Maroudis has made a big jump on the mound in the last year. Loose easy arm action on the bump running his fastball up to 92 mph with above average secondary stuff. Offensively, the ball jumps off the bat as Maroudis shows loose hands with power to all fields. Another high ceiling two-way with even more jumps to make as he continues to get stronger.
