Florida 2023 Rankings Update

Rankings season continues as we have updated our Class of 2023 rankings. The 2023 rankings debuted around this time last year, and we have since expanded the list to over 150 players across the state of Florida. The 2023 class is another one of those exciting young classes that we look forward to continuing to see develop as they move their way through high school. Today we take a look at our brand new Florida Class of 2023 rankings update.

Holding down that No. 1 spot once again is 3B/RHP Aidan Miller (JW Mitchell). Uncommitted, but shouldn’t be for long as Miller has established himself as one of the top players in this class nationally. Miller does it on both sides of the ball as he is low effort with his actions at the plate that produce easy pop off the bat from the right side. On the mound it is a lot of the same from Miller. Low effort, with a clean loose arm that bumps the fastball up to 92 mph. A lot to like as Miller looks to make a big impact at the next level as a two-way prospect.

Coming in at No. 2 is SS Cade Kurland (Berkeley Prep, Florida). Kurland is an athletic shortstop who can really make an impact on both sides of the ball. 6.60 runner with plus bat speed offensively. Defensively, can really pick it and has an above average arm to go along.

Third in our updated rankings is 3B Braden Holcomb (Foundation Academy, Vanderbilt). Holcomb has one of the biggest power bats in the entire 2023 class. Standing 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, Holcomb uses that extra large frame to generate high exit velos off the bat with a compact swing. Holcomb moves well for his size and has the arm to stick at third.

Fourth in our rankings is the top catcher in the class, Brady Neal (IMG Academy, LSU). The LSU commit is new to IMG this year and should make an impact for them early. Neal has a lot of power potential from the left side and uses a strong lower half to help drive balls into the gaps. Defensively, Neal is quick behind the plate with a sturdy block. Strength and accuracy on his throws down to second. Neal is a toolsy catcher with a lot to like on both sides of the field.

Rounding out the top 5 is another IMG 2023 in SS Stone Russell (IMG Academy, Florida). Russell really stood out over the spring as the lone Freshman starting on the IMG National team, and he fit right in. Advanced hitter with above average bat speed and a knack for finding the barrel. Can play all four positions in the infield well and will continue to be an impact player on both sides of the ball for years to come.

Risers

Several players made big jumps in this rankings update with three new players joining the top 15. At No. 8 is OF/RHP Andrew Duncan (Bishop McLaughlin, Florida State). Duncan had another standout summer which led to his commitment to Florida State. An uber athletic outfielder with above average speed. Added strength will only add to his offensive ceiling. On the mound, Duncan continues to make jumps as he was up to 89 this summer.

At No. 9 is one of the biggest standouts from this year’s Future Games, OF Hayden Yost (Sickles, Florida). Yost stood out this summer with his left handed bat that seems to always find the barrel. He hit wherever we saw him, including the PBR Future Games, and eventually earned himself a commitment to the University of Florida.

Jumping up to No. 13 is SS/RHP
Landen Maroudis (Calvary Christian, NC State). I really like Maroudis’s potential as a two-way guy. Offensively, has a simple swing with a bat that really plays. On the mound, has clean, up tempo mechanics with the fastball that’s been up to 89 mph. Low effort delivery with much more in the tank as he continues to add strength.
