Day Two Scout Blog

Brady Burgess RHP / Hillsborough , FL / 2021

Uncommitted, Stocky 6-foot, 200 pound frame. Clean, repeatable, up-tempo delivery. Comes from a 3/4 arm slot sitting 81-84 with armside run on the FB. Showed feel for the breaking ball 71-73.

Nate Cannizzaro SS / 3B / Northeast, FL / 2021

Large frame, high waisted athlete w/ room for physical growth. Semi-crouched, athletic stance w/ hands at shoulders. Mid leg lift w/ minimal hand load. Slight upper cut swing w/ avg bat spd, strength, and loft. Gap-to-gap approach. Marginal defensive actions at SS w/ avg. arm strength, feet, and glove. Best profiles at 3B.

Garrett Caropreso 1B / LHP / Apopka , FL / 2022

The left-hander has a very long limbed frame. He worked with very low effort delivery and arm action is clean. Fastball Sat 78-81 mph, but will make some large jumps with strength. Follow as he continues to mature.

Ian Cochran RHP / SS / Yulee, FL / 2021

Large frame, lean build RHP w/ room for physical development. Athletic, repeatable delivery. Torso stays in line, ball-to-flat, slightly closed foot strike. Backside releases leveraging torso down. Clean arm action w/ hands breaking at chest. Slight off-line take away. Good position at foot strike. Loose finish with soft bounce recoil. Uses a three-pitch mix: FB, CB, CH. FB works 83-85. Locates mostly armside. Avg life w/ some armside run and occasional sink at the bottom of the zone. FB quality is below avg. Has some feel for spin, however the consistency of the shape to break needs to improve. Flashed one w/ D ¾ action, but more role than snap. Overall, works fast and challenges hitters. Has a moderate ceiling.

Jesuel Fernandez 3B / OF / Lake Gibson , FL / 2022

Tall, athletic, strong projectable frame. Fernandez’s barrel constantly finds the baseball. Short, quick actions in the box. Hands stay inside and work directly to baseball.

Karson Florence RHP / RHP / Freeport, FL / 2020

Florence looks the part of a next level arm, yet remains uncommitted as a 2020 graduate. He had a strong, durable appearance in the frame. Works up tempo with a clean takeaway and foot strike. Worked mostly 85-86 T87 with some late sink. The slider showed average with above average potential shape with some sweeping action with some late bite.

Jacob Goolsby 1B / Springville, AL / 2021

Goolsby 6-foot-2 215 pounds. Physical/athletic frame. Displays quick bat speed with natural lift at the plate. 90-99 mph exit velo consistently. Causes a lot of damage to pull side gap barreling up baseball.

James Hankerson 1B / Berkeley Prep, FL / 2023

Large and strong 6-foot-3, 240 pound frame. Above average bat speed. Showed pull-side power as he launched a home run at 98 mph off the bat that traveled 392 feet

Daniel Lazaro OF / LHP / Tampa Catholic, FL / 2023

The 2023 has an athletic frame with a strong lower half with plenty of room to grow. Worked out of the stretch only, slightly crossfire, but showed consistent feel to both sides of the plate at 79-81 mph. Curveball also showed quality shape and chance to be above average.

Reed Marcum C / 1B / South Laurel, KY / 2021

Marcum is a R/R catcher that can flat out hit. Displayed consistent gap to gap power in the past two weeks. Quick, compact, athletic swing taking a line drive out to LF for a HR, leaving in a hurry.

Isaiah Montes C / SS / Bishop Moore Catholic, FL / 2021

Strong bodied catcher. Athletic actions behind the plate as he moves well laterally with quick transfers and an above average arm. Threw out a base stealer with an in game pop time of 2.10. At the plate showed gap to gap power as he launched a triple at 92 mph off the bat.

Cooper Nelson RHP / SS / East Lake, FL / 2020

The FSU recruit looks primed to get on campus and have a chance to contribute. Worked 88-91 with some life and showed feel and potential on both the curveball and changeup. He has added strength and a simple delivery lends to more upside.

Chris Sabatino C / 3B / Clearwater Central Catholic, FL / 2021

Physical C/1B. Continues to hit this weekend. Multiple hits yesterday and found the barrel again on Saturday. Simple approach with quick, rhythmic hands.

Sean Smith SS / OF / Calvary Christian, FL / 2021

Slender, athletic frame. Smith has above average quickness and was a threat on the base paths. Two hits on the game and showed above average plate vision.

Large frame, durably built CIF w/ above average strength and stiff actions. Semi-crouched stance w/ hands at shoulder. Long, slight-upper cut stroke. Middle-pullside approach. Ready to hit the fastball.
