Florida Fall Classic Standouts

PBR Florida
PBR Florida Staff

The PBR Florida Fall Classic took place Friday, September 11th through Saturday, September 12th. There were a lot talented teams in attendance with talented players at all age groups. The weather won the battle this weekend causing the tournament to come to a halt. However, we were still able to see some good baseball for two days. Today, we will share with you our standouts from the PBR Florida Fall Classic.

Standouts

Adekide Adetuyi LHP / 1B / Merritt Island, FL / 2023

Adekide has a projectable, high waisted, athletic LHP frame. Displayed competitive actions on the mound, working 3/4 arm slot from the left side, short to long arm action. FB 77-79 mph, topping at 80 mph with slight arm side running action. CB 68-70 mph, with a 2/8 shape. Adekide is currently uncommitted.

Sammy Beir RHP / Marjory Stoneman Douglas , FL / 2022

Long, lean frame. Goes 3 innings, striking out 6 in winning effort for X Team. Up to 83 with some life.

Breydan Calapa LHP / LHP / Scorpions Academy, FL / 2023

Simple, clean arm action and repeatable delivery. Attacking with FB at 79-81 and topping at 2276 rpm. Shown one CB which has some shape at 69mph/2132rpm.

Andres Cruz 3B / Pembroke Pines Charter, FL / 2023

One of the top hitters of the weekend, Cruz was all over pitches, barreling balls with frequency. He showcased advanced athleticism and the frame is easily projectable. He creates separation under control and gets the hands cocked, allowing him to unload explosively. He drove balls to the center and left field walls often as there is plenty of upside offensively.

Wyatt Campbell 3B / North Marion, FL / 2021

A stout, tall athlete, Campbell also harnesses the athletic and quick twitch ability to add to his game. His footwork will play at the corners and the arm strength popped enough to stick at third. At the plate he looks to have put things together with a simple approach and quiet load. The Lipscomb commit drove baseballs with authority and got the barrel through the zone efficiently with multiple hard liners on the weekend.

Luis Delgado RHP / Royal Palm Beach, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021 impressed on the mound with a quick, live arm. Sat 82-84 in the first then bumped it up to 84-87 T88. Attacked both sides of the plate for strikes and mixed in an above average breaking ball. Delgado struck out 8 in 4 innings of work.

Andrew DiMisa 2B / 3B / Berkeley, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021. The athletic utility player looks to have gotten more physical. Reached base four times in two games including a hard hit single. Has a knack for finding the barrel and should be a contributor to any school that picks him up.

Carson Dorsey LHP / OF / J.R. Arnold, FL / 2021

Dorsey was a little shaky with command going, putting himself in a hole early on, but competed and showcased some nice pitch sequences in his outing. Dorsey finished with 5 K’s in 3 innings of work, running the FB up to 88 mph, sitting 84-87 mph. The slider (72-76 mph) was sharp when he got through it and tunneled it well with the fastball keeping hitters from diving in on it. The long, lanky lefty is uncommitted.

Chase Dunlap OF / Spruce Creek, FL / 2021

Like the projectable actions Dunlap displays on the mound. Up tempo delivery, reaching a consistent, athletic balance point working in line with target. FB 84-85 mph, with arm side sinking action. CB 74-75 mph, 11/5 shape, with sharp action. Dunlap is currently uncommitted.

Pedro Garcia RHP / International, FL / 2021

Athletic right-hander with a quick arm. Working 85-86 T88 with some late life. Fairly simple and in line. Didn't throw much offspeed, but ones we saw were a solid average pitch. Strong frame and some feel with upside.

Luis Gomez C / OF / Palmetto ridge high school , FL / 2022

Large physical catcher showed above average actions behind the plate. Quick feet with an above average arm. Offensively, he showed power potential with feel for the barrel.

Griffin Hugus SS / RHP / Wellington, FL / 2022

Continues to perform well both on the bump and at the plate. Turned around a good FB for a 2B against a quality arm in the first game. Athletic, two way follow.

Ethan Hummell LHP / Orangewood Christian, FL / 2023

Hummel attacked the zone with a FB/CB mix and easy, low effort delivery. Displays a rhythmic, repeatable delivery and athletic arm action from a high ¾ slot. FBs jumped on hitters sitting 78-80 mph and touching 81 mph. He was comfortable with the breaking ball in any count at 61-64 mph. Had success throwing it for a strike or dropping it off the plate for weak contact or swings and misses.

Matthew Lashley SS / 2B / Park Vista , FL / 2023

Has done a nice job all the way around this weekend. Above average defender at short. Also shown a short, compact swing producing a pair of hits with an RBI.

Aidan Meola 3B / SS / Palm Beach Gardens, FL / 2021

Moola continued to stand out as an advanced defender at third. Offensively, there is a lot of present strength and bat speed. Drove a triple and showed off his present athleticism as well. Overall, fairly high ceiling all around.

Pavlos Piperakis OF / LHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, FL / 2023

Showed out again over the weekend, this time offensively from the left side. Drove a triple to the right-center field gap followed up by a pull side home run. Has also shown well on the mound in the past and presents as a true two way talent.

Matthew Pizzarello LHP / Lincoln Park Academy, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021 competed on every pitch. The southpaw went all 5 innings for the Naturals and struck out 4. Clean repeatable delivery coming from a high ¾ arm slot. He sat 78-81 with the fastball with an above average slider of 2600+ rpms.

Reinaldo Plasencia SS / 3B / Imater Academy , FL / 2022

Athletic frame. Made a nice play coming through the ball at 3B. Some swing and was on time, just missing a few this at-bat. A follow going forward.

Elias Raptis 3B / RHP / American Heritage Delray, FL / 2024

Raptis had a solid performance going a strong 6 innings pitched, competitive actions all around putting his team in a good position to win the ball game. FB 77-80 mph, topping at 81 mph. CB 68-70 mph. Finished with 6 IP, 7 K’s, 2 H, 1 ER. Raptis is currently uncommitted.

Ricky Reeth OF / West Orange, FL / 2021

Notre Dame commit. Really liked my short, bullpen look, a few weeks back at Scorpions tryouts and looked good early in his outing on the mound. Up to 90 with some arm side run. Like the way the arm works and the overall upside. At the plate the left handed hitter showed a balanced setup with a compact swing with present bat speed. Drove a triple in the gap and showed his athleticism. Interesting two way follow.

Gianni Rodriguez 3B / Mater Academy, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021. Stocky framed right hander with a live arm. Worked both sides of the plate with his fastball sitting 85-88 and topped 90 mph with feel for the breaking ball.

Luis Rodriguez RHP / RHP / Imater, FL / 2023

Right hander worked quickly to the plate with the fastball sitting 83-85. Late life on the fastball with a spin rate of up to 2388 rpms.

Jaden Ross 3B / RHP / Riverview, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021 impressed on the mound where he attacked the zone consistently for strikes. Worked up tempo from a high ¾ arm slot and short arm action. Fastball sat 80-83. Ross would go all 6 innings for the Roos striking out 11.

Dominic Stagliano RHP / Palm Beach Gardens, FL / 2021

The tall, long and lean right hander has made a nice jump velocity wise. Sat mostly 85-86, he had 88-90 when he needed it throughout the night. Gets down the mound and to extension well. Spun the occasional slider at 73-76 that shows quality shape. He would go two innings, allow one hit and strike out four.

Yoel Tejeda Jr 1B / RHP / North Broward Prep, FL / 2022

2022 Florida commit looks to have grown and gotten stronger. Switch hitter with above average hit and power tools from both sides. Simple actions at the plate with quick hands that produce high exit velos. Dangerous hitter with a lot of upside.

Tyler Toro 3B / RHP / Lake Howell, FL / 2022

Uncommitted 2022 has a tall, lean frame. Consistent strike thrower with three pitches in his arsenal. Fastball sat 80-83 and topped at 85. CB 69-72 and flashed an above average changeup. Toro would strike out 11 in 4 innings.

Ryan Young SS / RHP / Trinity Catholic, FL / 2023

Young flashed quick twitch actions on the mound, forcing a good bit of weak contact. The athletic righty kept hitters off balance, one pitch away from striking out the side. FB 80-82 mph with a spin rate of 2300 RPM. CB had some jumpy, sharp action at 71-72 mph, spin rate of 2572 RPM. Young is currently uncommitted.
