Florida Preseason Classic: Day 2 Recap

The 2021 Florida Preseason Classic continued Tuesday in Vero Beach as Doral Academy took on TNXL Academy. Doral was coming off a big win against Winter Haven on Monday but would come up short on Tuesday. 2021 Florida State commit Dylan Jacobs got the start for TNXL. He sat 88-90 and would go 2 innings allowing an unearned run with 2 strikeouts. TNXL struggled with command on the mound as Jacobs and 3 relievers combined for 11 walks, despite only letting up 2 total runs.
On the other side, 2022 NC State commit Nicholas Fraginals got the start for Doral. He sat 86-86 with spin rates up to 2600 on the fastball. Fraginals went 3.1 innings allowing 2 runs with 2 strikeouts.
Offensively, TNXL was led by 2021 Stetson commit Nicolas Deschamps who went 1-3 with a solo HR and 2 RBI. 2022 Kendrey Maduro added an RBI double as TNXL went on to win 6-2.

Game 2 on Tuesday night featured a matchup between Spruce Creek and Westminster Christian. It was a lopsided affair as Spruce Creek went on to win 13-0.
2021 St. Johns River commit Jarrett Maresco started on the mound for Spruce Creek. He would go 3 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit with 6 strikeouts. Marresco sat 85-88 with a fastball and showed an above average breaking up to 2650 rpms.
On the offensive side for Spruce Creek, 2021 FIU commit Dalton Hurst led the way with 2 hits including a double and RBI. 2022 Trent Godawa added a 3 RBI double, and 2021 Florida commit Brandon Neely had a double and 3 RBI as well.
