Florida Regional: Day 1 Scout Blog

The PBRT Florida Regional kicked off in Bradenton, Florida with action in the Upperclass Division. The tournament will last two days with each team getting 4 total games. Today, we will take a look at our Scout Notes from Day 1 at the Florida Regional. See who stood out to our PBR Florida Scouts.

Hunter Baynes RHP / IMG Academy, FL / 20232021 Future Gamer. Baynes has a tall, athletic frame with a live arm. Features great command of a hard 91 mph fastball, which he attacks hitters with. Also shows a breaking ball at 69-72 to keep hitters off balance, and as a strikeout pitch. Solid arm to keep an eye on, can contribute to a team at the next level. FB: 89-91BB: 69-72 |

Vladimir Breton SS / Land O Lakes, FL / 2024Played second base with smooth and fluid actions. Swings the bat with free, quick, and easy hands. Runs well, but will benefit from experience, as he can be exciting on the bases.

Jaewoo Cho RHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2023Arkansas commit. Has a mature mound presence with command of the off speed when thrown with conviction. Body shows signs of growth potential and probable strength increase. Has more in the tank and with proper use of pitches, can continue to open eyes. FB: 88-91CB: 73 CH: 77 |

Cooper Consiglio LHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2023NC State commit. Consiglio has a live arm and late movement. Tight spin and darting movement on breaking pitches. Slider is a true strikeout pitch. With further strengthening and command development can be a great arm at the next level. |

Garrett Corkhill 1B / Riverdale, FL / 2022Uncommitted. Knowledge and ability at first base makes him defensively sound. Has ability to control the bat and has an approach to hitting that will be effective at the next level. Body shows signs of power potential. On base and situationally aware. |

Kolton Curtis 1B / SS / Bishop Verot, FL / 2022Off speed command and effectiveness was the stand out for Curtis. Loose arm action and pitcher’s frame. Which strength and conditioning/age, body has potential for more velocity. Swing and miss movement makes potential all the more appealing. FB: 82-86

Tyler Lambert 2B / Bonita Springs, FL / 2022Uncommitted. Showed impressive opposite field power. Lean body has potential for growth. Baseball instincts and overall game IQ should yield a big upside.

Greg Marmo SS / IMG Academy, FL / 2022Marmo has a slow load, and has a good feel for the barrel. Whips the barrel through the zone well and generates torque throughout load and swing. With strength and development can show power.

Kevin Martinez SS / RHP / Island Coast, FL / 2023Rankings StateRank: 171 / POS: 39
Martinez is an exciting arm to watch. Flies under the radar, standing in at 5-foot-9 with a stocky, athletic frame. High energy, quick tempo, max effort arm on the mound. Features a fastball at 87 and a sharp breaking ball at 77. Does an exceptional job at mixing looks and keeping hitters off balance by changing eye levels. Gets ahead in the count and has strike out stuff. FB: 84-86 T87 |

Dean Moss OF / 3B / IMG Academy , FL / 2025Moss is a young outfielder with an athletic look and physical tools. Runs smooth and fluid with a swing that is short and barrel oriented with gap power, as a freshman. Was on base all four plate appearances with a gap wall hopped double. Has tremendous upside if continues to grow and improve.

Ryan Rushing LHP / IMG Academy, FL / 20232021 Future Gamer. Rushing gets all out of a 5-foot-9 frame with smooth mechanics on the mound. Gets ahead in the count often, attacks the corners with an 87 mph fastball, and can spot breaking pitches. Rushing works with a quick tempo as well. Good pitch knowledge and stuff, with some strength and development, great pitcher to keep an eye on. FB: 86-87BB: 76-77 |

Mason Smith OF / 1B / McKeel Academy of Technology, FL / 2022Standing at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds Smith has a tall athletic build. Good mound presence, gets ahead and pounds the zone with a fastball. Threw a complete game and maintained velocity and command throughout. With strength development can contribute to a next level club. FB: 84BB: 75 |
