Day Three Scout Blog

Ian Anderson OF / LHP / Lakeland Christian, FL / 2021

Lean frame, athletic build with long legs and high waist. Strength is present in the body utilizing the long legs striding out to the plate well and stays on line. Arm comes over clean and quickly with low to normal effort in the delivery. FB rides with efficient spin up to 86 mph with an above average spin rate CB coming in at 73-75 mph; 2500 rpm.

Andrew Burns 1B / OF / Steinbrenner, FL / 2021

6-foot-4 high waisted athletic frame. Easy swinging homerun to LF yesterday, almost gets homer #2 today taking one off top of the LF wall for a 2B. 3 2B’s, 2 3B’s, 1 HR on the weekend.

Luke Campbell OF / RHP / Viera, FL / 2023

Physical athlete with a strong lower half. Showed barrel control letting the ball travel and taking a single the other way.

Josh Castellani SS / 3B / Dixie Hollins, FL / 2024

High waisted, projectable frame. Showed smooth hands, fluid transfer, controlled footwork at SS. Easy swinger, above average power for age. 2-2 2 doubles to deep LCF.

Gavin Conticello 3B / SS / Coral Springs Charter, FL / 2021

The USF recruit has really filled out a still long, Lean projectable frame. Has a lot of overall tools. Twitchy athlete. In the box, he stands tall and creates leverage while showing adjustability in the swing. Overall, has a high ceiling.

Andrew Duncan OF / OF / Palm Harbor University , FL / 2023

Duncan is a fast twitch, high-waisted, athletic two way guy. High ¾ slot, powerful firm life on the FB sitting 87-88, top 89,  2300 RPM. Showed both CB 72, SL 77 in the zone effectively. At the plate, smoked a line drive coming off the bat at 90 mph.

Nico Diaz C / Forest Hill, FL / 2022

Stocky build and stout body as he’s filled out nicely for a 16 year old. Uses strength in the swing taking a full hack with above average bat speed. Gets the weight back and coils tightly in the load. Lands soft on the front foot and the timing mechanism is impressive as he creates a lot of movement but gets to the contact point and the barrel head has tons of torque. Power potential is inevitable as the body will mature turning liners into homers.

Matthew Faranda LHP / OF / Kings Acadamy , FL / 2021

Tall body, can create some leverage with the long limbs. Fast twitch movements when he’s balanced at the plate. He’s open and lays the barrel on the shoulder taking it back in the load using the tension in the backside to fire the hips through contact. Runs well with long strides also. On the mound he stays tall, maintaining weight in the legs and is well balanced. Drops and drives to the plate with a strong lead leg and gets the arm over efficiently. Sat 79-82 with the fastball countering it with a sweeping, quick 71-73 mph breaking ball.

Ryan Fry RHP / 3B / Wharton , FL / 2022

Miami commit. Advanced, mature build with wide frame and could even add weight/muscle. The 2022 has strong trunks, with body control and distributes the weight evenly through the windup. Parallel with the hips as he transfers the energy and can extends through the target well. FB gets up on hitters and sat 85-87 mph coupling it with a late breaking CB at 62-66 and a late breaking SL at 70-72 mph with command of both.

Max Galvin OF / LHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2021

Very physical and lean athletic frame. He has a strong lower half that he uses well. Has some length and stiffness at times in the swing, but loose, quick hands and present strength more than makes up for it. Defensively, his athleticism plays well with above average routes in the outfield. Very intriguing upside for an uncommitted 2021.

Ethan Jones LHP / 1B / Wesley Chapel, FL / 2020

Pensacola State commit. Jones has a smooth/in control delivery and timing with a repeatable ¾ arm slot. FB 85-87 with late life. CB 72-76 with true slurve action.

William MacCloud RHP / C / Forest Hill , FL / 2022

Strong legs and high hips with a loose upper body. Advanced feel and presence on the mound commanding the fastball and breaking ball with consistency. Gets the hand out front with a quick release and drives on line through the plate well. Sat low to mid 80s, T84 mph with an advanced breaking ball he spotted on both corners coming in at 70-72 mph

Derek Martinez C / 3B / Pinecrest Lakes, FL / 2024

Strong legs and high hips with a loose upper body. Advanced feel and presence on the mound commanding the fastball and breaking ball with consistency. Gets the hand out front with a quick release and drives on line through the plate well. Sat low to mid 80s, T84 mph with an advanced breaking ball he spotted on both corners coming in at 70-72 mph

Kevin Martinez SS / RHP / Island Coast, FL / 2023

Martinez has been on a tear this weekend. Strong frame that translates into gap to gap power. Really like the upside as a two way prospect.

Parker Mirick RHP / 2B / Brookwood School, GA / 2021

Boasting a lean frame, build projects him to put on a little more size. Has some arm talent and changes slots with frequency on the mound. Command gets a little shaky at times but creates many different angles and viewpoints keeping hitters off balance. FB runs to armside quite a bit at 81-83 mph with a frisbee like SL at 71-73 mph that has bite at times. CH looked nasty when he kept it in the zone at 74-75 mph, pulling the string as the bottom falls out.

Luis Misla LHP / Riverview, FL / 2020

College of Central FL commit. Smooth, repeatable delivery from the left side, stays on top of baseball on all pitches. FB 85-88, CB 75-77 right to left bite.

Parker Pre-Genzer LHP / Fort Myers, FL / 2020

Lean frame with athletic movements and good body control. Has a quick arm with a shorter motion but creates a lot of torque giving it a whip like action as the ball comes off his fingers efficiently. Unorthodox windup, moving parts and a crossbody delivery adding a low-side slot. Pitches with a lot of confidence and creates spin off the hand getting the fastball up to 83 mph with fade and a sharp breaking ball with late life at 69-71 upwards of 2600 rpm.

Manny Ramirez Jr OF / Calvary Christian Academy, FL / 2021

Large frame w/ athletic, muscular build w/ room for added strength. Semi-crouch stance w/ long stride. Minimal hand movement. Above avg bat spd w/ strength. Controls the zone. Relatively new to baseball. LOTS of upside.

Blaine Rowland RHP / OF / Durant, FL / 2024

Large frame RHP w/ room for physical development. Has a heavy FB (78-80) w/ avg life at the bottom of the zone. Throws a CB (68-69) w/ ¾ break when right. Still developing the feel.

Cole Russo 3B / 1B / Jesuit, FL / 2021

The UCF commit continues to show physicality and elite bat speed. Generates torque from the left side leading to consistent hard contact. Was on the barrel all game.

Cooper Smith LHP / 1B / Community School of Naples, FL / 2021

Methodical, repeatable delivery with a wide base and present strength in the lower half. Leads with the heal to the plate keeping him closed and on line. Hides the ball fairly well with a fluid release. Normal effort to the plate and mixes pitches. Showed command with his entire arsenal flashing a low-mid 80s fastball with ride, a short CB at 68-69 with late bite and a fading change at 71-72 that dives off at its best

Jonathan Vastine SS / RHP / Bartow, FL / 2021

Vanderbilt commit showed bat speed and strength as he launched a triple off the wall early. Combination of quickness and strength helps him drive the ball gap to gap with power to all fields.

Andrew Veniard RHP / 3B / Fletcher, FL / 2022

Stocky build, carries the weight well with a projectable frame. Methodical, rhythmic windup and delivery and decelerates well pushing the upper body down through release. Gave hitters fits all day as the mound presence and pitchability stands out. FB was up to 84 with a looping 12/6 shape breaking ball in the low 70s.

Holden Wade LHP / LHP / Sickles, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021 is a tall athletic southpaw. High waisted with long legs. Wade comes from a high ¾ slot and was working 85-87 T88 with late sink on the fastball. Intriguing athletic uncommitted 21.

Parker Wells C / 2B / Springville, AL / 2021

Confident line drive approach at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI today. Quick, athletic hands staying inside the baseball getting the bat head through quickly to drive balls up the middle. 2.15 pop time behind the plate

Brock Wilken 3B / C / Bloomingdale, FL / 2020

Wake Forest commit. 6-foot-4, 215 lbs strong bodied, athletic frame. Showing plus bat speed hitting two hard ground balls down the LF line at exit velo’s of 100 and 109 mph.

Jace Wilson OF / LHP / Flagler Palm Coast, FL / 2019

Big body with a filled out frame. Has some quickness in the hands and wrists staying calm in the load. Strength stand outs as he gets the bat head to the ball with authority. If he stays through the ball and gets to full extension consistently he can add backspin that should create more carry.
