5-foot-6, 135-pound catcher stood out for his energy behind the plate throughout the hottest part of the day. Demonstrates ability to block balls with ease along with receiving well. Florida Burn 2022 Doughty - 3

Bryce Roth RHP / Osceola, FL / 2022

Roth had one of the more impressive outings of the day, tossing 4 shutout innings against a very talented Cannons lineup. Roth is every bit of 6’0” and 175 and comes straight over the top. His fastball was sitting in the 77-78mph range. His go to pitch was a legitimate 12/6 curveball in the 62-63mph range. Roth used his breaking ball to keep the hitters off balance. It was a very impressive showing for Roth.

Brighton Edsell 2B / Fort Myers, FL / 2022

Edsell showed a good approach at the plate. His hands worked well at the plate and that was evident when he took a fastball to right center for a single.

Bronson Sessa LHP / 1B / Cardinal Mooney, FL / 2022

5-foot-10, 145-pound left-handed pitcher, athletically built. Arm works continuously, long on the back-side to a high ¾ slot. Velo jump to come given arm action and athleticism.

Ostingers 2022

Ostingers 2022 - 13
Southern Squeeze - 2

5 Star National Jones - 6
Ostingers 2022 - 2

Jack Owens SS / RHP / Bloomingdale, FL / 2022

5-foot-10, 150-pound infielder with a high-waist who plays the game with no fear. Blasted a deep home run over the left field fence to get his day started, and continued to drive balls over the course of two games. Weight rocks back with a knee-knock stride before his quick hands work the barrel noticeably uphill through the zone. Also showcased the ability to play second base at a high-level including a big bare-handed, charging play.

Brody Donay C / 3B / Lakeland Christian, FL / 2022

Donay stands out amongst peers simply due to his size.  An athletic 6’3 catcher, Donay showed flexibility and soft hands behind the plate.  He also showed he can catch and throw, gunning down a runner at 2nd base in Game 1. Offensively, he shows loose hips and soft hands.  As his body continues to mature and more strength is added, Donay could prove to be a high level catcher.

Colby Shelton SS / 2B / Bloomingdale , FL / 2022

Every tournament, you look for a guy to really show out and make a name for himself.  Shelton has been that guy. He has had one of the more impressive weekends so far. A left handed hitting infielder, he shows soft hands and good footwork and made numerous plays ranging to his right and left.  Offensively is where Shelton really stood out. Shelton really slows the game down offensively and tracks the ball well with impressive balance. Early in Game 1, he drove a double over the centerfielder’s head.  Later in the game, Shelton hit a loud double off the 375’ sign on the right centerfield wall, all while using a wood bat. Shelton really helped himself this weekend and will definitely be a guy to follow.

Fulton Lockhart RHP / 3B / Newsome, FL / 2022

Lockhart came in late in the game and really caught our attention.  Standing 6’2, Lockhart sat 82-84 with riding life through the zone. He also snapped off some big 11/5 curveballs with impressive depth.  Still maturing and should have much more to come.

Stood out on the mound for the Southern Squeeze, athletic build with developing strength throughout frame. Fastball played at 77-80, also offered up a slider at 70 mph.

Florida Burn 2022 Orlosky

Florida Burn 2022 Orlosky - 5
5 Star National Jones - 4

Marek Houston SS / Venice, FL / 2022

Listed at 5-foot-9, 155-pounds, Houston’s legs appear to go up to his chest, and he still shows plenty of room to fill out and mature physically. Features crisp, more polished actions at shortstop that include confident hands and a quick release with some arm strength present. He smacked three hits in game one, having no issue battling from behind in the count, and the line drive power that he possesses now will only be bolstered as he gets stronger in the future. Winner-type.

Kamron Gelwick SS / OF / Calvary Christian, FL / 2022

Listed as an infielder, the high-waisted, 5-foot-9, 145-pounder played centerfield and hopped on the mound, which only helped to highlight his athleticism even further. Moves well side to side with a bounce in his step, and features some twitch to the hands at the plate with a whippy barrel. The ball comes of his barrel a bit louder, and he does not get cheated with each swing. Smacked a single to left field in game one. An interesting prospect on the mound, sat 79-81 from a higher ¾ slot in the windup, out of the stretch sat 75-76. Curveball played at 69-71.

Dylan Peck 3B / SS / Bishop Verot, FL / 2022

5-foot-9, 165-pound two-way prospect, athletic build, should see a jump in velocity. Athleticism shows in overall delivery, continuous arm action from a high ¾ slot, will drop down to sidearm at-times, creates deception and keeps the batter guessing. Fastball sat 77-79.

5 Star National Jones

Florida Burn 2022 Orlosky - 5
5 Star National Jones - 4

5 Star National Jones - 6
Ostingers 2022 - 2

Stone Russell SS / 2B / IMG Academy, FL / 2023

Russell was mentioned as one of the standouts from Day 1 in our Day 1 Scout Blogs and he picked up right where he left off yesterday.  Despite playing up a year, Russell composes himself as if he is one of the best players on the field, and he usually is. Lean, athletic frame, Russell starts tall in the box and has a mature, center approach.  He handled facing the hard throwing Ostingers pitchers with relative ease, hitting a loud double and triple along with a single up the middle. Russell has been one of the more impressive players through the first two days.

Samuel Hernandez C / 3B / Lake Gibson, FL / 2022

Hernandez is still on the shorter side, but that’s about the only part of his game that is small.  Hernandez has some big time pop for his age and he showed it in game, one hopping the left field fence for a 3 run double in Game 1.  Hernandez has great barrel awareness and seems to square up the ball every time he swings the bat. As he continues to get taller and his body continues to mature, Hernandez could find himself being among the best power hitters around.

Tampa Terror 2022

Florida Burn 2022 Doughty - 4
Tampa Terror 2022 - 3

Paul Brock OF / RHP / East Lake, FL / 2022

Florida Burn 2022 Platinum - 2

Eli Kapkowski C / Calvary Christian, FL / 2022

6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher, athletically built with strength throughout frame. Offensively, strength translates to swing. Gap-to-gap type approach, looks to drive the ball. In one at-bat seen, showed present bat speed as he drove a ball into the left-center gap for an easy double.

Zachary Root 1B / LHP / Ft. Myers , FL / 2022

Florida recruit. 6-foot, 155-pound left-handed pitcher, lanky, athletic build. Works with a long arm action from a high ¾ slot, continuous action with some looseness. Stya tall during delivery, working on-line, strides somewhat towards third base, landing square and finishing athletically. Fastball sat 81-83 with armside run. Changeup at 71-72, breaking ball played in the upper 60s.

AJ Nessler OF / 3B / Jesuit , FL / 2022

5-foot-9, 180-pound left-handed hitting third baseman and outfielder, stocky frame, strength throughout. Stood out offensively all day long. Generates plenty of power with swing, makes hard contact routinely. Showed ability to drive the ball from gap-to-gap. Good hand eye and strong wrists as he fought off a tough left-on-left matchup, muscling an inside fastball to left field against Zach Root (Florida Burn Platinum).

Amai Rivera-Martinez 1B / LHP / Northeast, FL / 2022

Rivera-Martinez definitely passes the eye test, standing 6’2” and a lean 160 lbs.  Offensively, he has a smooth left handed swing that has slight loft and is conducive to power.  In game, Rivera-Martinez showed a glimpse of that power by scorching a loud double off the right field wall.  As his body continues to fill out, Rivera-Martinez could turn into your prototypical left handed power hitting first baseman.

Samuel Cole SS / RHP / Alonso, FL / 2022

Cole started on the mound in Game 1 and really impressed.  Standing 6’2”, Cole comes at the hitter with a bit of a short arm action.  Cole showed plus command all game with minimal effort while sitting 80-82 with his fastball.  He also showed command of a breaking ball in the 67-68mph that had decent shape. As he continues to fill out, he should add more velocity.  Cole was very impressive today, keeping a talented Florida Burn Platinum team in check.

Owen McElfatrick OF / 2B / Berkeley Prep, FL / 2022

5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed pitcher and outfielder. Stood out on the mound as he closed out the game against Florida Burn 2022 Platinum and then carried things over into game two against the Florida Panthers, starting on the mound. Arm worked short and clean from a high ¾ slot, consistently repeated delivery. Fastball sat 78-80, flashed run.  Changeup, feel for, fade action, 70-71.

Florida Burn 2022 Orlosky

Top Tier Roos National - 6
Florida Burn 2022 Orlosky - 1

john barreto 2B / OF / Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, FL / 2022

Caught our eye first for his defensive play up the middle, showed fluid footwork, awareness around the bag and soft hands. Arm played with enough strength to stick on the left-side of the infield for years to come. Continued to impress as we got a look offensively, smooth, athletic swing.

Florida Panthers

Top Tier Roos American - 11
Florida Panthers - 3

Max Resnick OF / SS / N/A, FL / 2022

Resnick provided one of the more athletic plays of the day, leaping to catch a line drive at shortstop and then tagging the runner leading off second base while still in the air. Resnick showed athletic actions and some soft hands defensively.  Offensively, Resnick showed strong wrists and quick hands. He had some bad luck at the plate today, but showed the ability to find the barrel.
