Day Three Scout Blog

Michael Alfonso SS / RHP / Key West , FL / 2021

Possesses a large frame, is wide and thick in the upper body with long limbs to add. The athleticism for his size sticks out at the plate where he can manipulate the barrel and adjust to off-speed. The bat looks light in his hands, firing through contact with little drag and he uses the core well and centers his gravity to stay balanced from load to finish.

Aiden Alvarez LHP / 1B / Osceola , FL / 2023

Tall, athletic southpaw at 5-foot-11, 160 pounds. Balanced delivery with good extension. Long loose arm working from a high ¾ slot. Fastball sitting 74-77. Added strength will uptick the velo. Showed confidence and feel for the breaking ball at 63-64 mph. Like the upside and projectability.

Trey Bacon SS / RHP / Sickles, FL / 2020

Long, athletic frame. High waisted with strength in the legs and a fast, whip-like arm action. Drops and drives the front leg and leads with the heel to keep the weight back. Average stride but the arm gets over in a hurry with moderate effort. He ran the fastball up to 89 mph, coupling it with a mid 70s breaking ball registering up to 2700 RPM  that has late bite when down in the zone.

Jacob Bolton RHP / 2B / Plant, FL / 2024

Overall athlete, but shows a lot of potential on the mound especially. Has a very simple, repeatable and clean delivery. He was 80-82 mph in the first and settled in at 78-80 mph. The fastball has some life and has a compact, quick arm that projects well as he matures and adds strength. Went 4.1 innings and struck out three while also going 1-2 offensively.

Yandel Cedeno C / Lake Brantley, FL / 2022

Young athletic catcher, showed some bat speed as he cleared the center fielder for an inside the park homer. Quickness on the base paths with some athleticism behind the plate.

Nick Cucchi OF / RHP / Bishop McLaughlin , FL / 2024

5-foot-11 athletic, projectable frame. High motor actions all around. Above average baseball IQ for age. Fluid/mature actions at 3B, present arm strength. Consistently stays inside of baseball, barrel finding baseball all weekend doing a lot of damage. 86-90 mph exit velos.

Carter French OF / LHP / Jesuit, FL / 2022

French boasts a long, lanky frame and is built lean with a lot of potential in the body. Athletic, quick twitch ability is present in the OF and at the plate as he gets the barrel to the ball efficiently. Utilizes the legs and drives against a stiff front leg creating torque in the bat head. Maximizes bat speed and the projectibility at the plate as well as the OF will have him trending upwards in the future.

Davian Garcia RHP / 3B / Sickles, FL / 2021

Durable, athletic frame with solid barrel awareness at the plate. Gets in a good position to hit, widening the lower half and planting the front foot stiff as he uncoils the back leg through the zone. Took pitches to both gaps for extra bases showcasing the ability to handle to bat and hit to all fields with authority.

Wil Gregory SS / 2B / Northeast, FL / 2024

Athletic frame with smooth footwork in the infield with average arm strength and soft hands. Crouched stance at the plate with a big leg kick to create rhythm in the swing and good barrel awareness.

Jacob Lojewski SS / 3B / American Heritage Delray , FL / 2020

Solid build. Lean, athletic frame with a wide back and broad shoulders. The FGCU commit utilizes the upper body strength with a quick, powerful arm that he cuts off at times but should lengthen out with progression. Ran the fastball up to 91 mph with arm side run adding in a mid 70s 11/5 shape breaking ball that’s right low in the zone. Also flashed an 80-81 mph changeup with fading, circle-change action to complete the arsenal.

Tanner Jones C / 3B / Hillsborough, FL / 2022

Durable, stout frame conducive to the catcher position. Some potential in the frame as he could fill out size wise and add strength to the body. Moves smoothly behind the dish and is quiet and calm with his movements. Flexible hips and flashes quick feet at times in the transfer with 2.1-2.2 pop times. Takes an advanced approach at the plate and looks extremely comfortable in the box. Utilizes a subtle toe tap to keep the weight back and punches through contact with above average hand speed.

Rafael Moreno SS / 2B / Lakeland , FL / 2023

Athletic frame with above average footwork in the infield with soft hands and average arm.  Tall approach at the plate with a toe tap to create rhythm in the swing with good barrel and strike zone awareness.

Jason Murphy RHP / 1B / Imagine School of North Port, FL / 2022

Athletic and lanky frame at 6 foot 2 and 165 pounds with plenty of room for growth.  Smooth and easy delivery throwing from the ¾ arm slot as a RHP. Sitting 82-85 with the fastball, 70-73 with the curveball and commands both pitches low in the zone.

Blaine Rowland RHP / OF / Durant, FL / 2024

Strong and athletic frame at 6 foot and 175 pounds. Smooth and easy mechanics as a RHP that makes it easy to repeat delivery. Short arm action from the ¾ arm slot with the fast ball 80-83 with some sink, curveball sitting 63-64, changeup 69-70. Commands all pitches low in the zone for strikes.

A.J. Sawmiller OF / RHP / Sickles, FL / 2022

Lean, lanky frame with long limbs and projectable. Displays high motor and advanced approach in the box as he’s aggressive in the zone and takes pitches well. Doesn’t get big and lets the bat head do the work through the zone with a strong, balanced swing. Barreled pitches and put up good at bats with hard contact all day

Evan Taveras C / 1B / Canterbury , FL / 2024

The young catcher stood out defensively. Athletic and moves well behind the plate. Quality setup, comfortable and gets into quality positions for the age. Has strong, wrists and soft hands and overall quality receiving actions. Showed above average lateral agility blocking.

Cameron Williams C / OF / Middleton, FL / 2021

5-foot-10 thin, athletic frame. Twitchy actions. Plus runner. 3.95 home to 1st times. Causes a lot of problems on the base path, attempting to steal home causing the pitcher to balk.
