Florida Summer Championships: Day 1 Scout Blog

The PBRT Florida Summer Championships kicked off in Bradenton, Florida with action all day from the 15u, 16u, and 18u Divisions. The tournament will last four days with a winner in each division determined on Monday. Today, we will take a look at our Scout Notes from Day 1 at the Florida Summer Championships. See who stood out to our PBR Florida Scouts.

Scout Notes

Jeb Allen OF / RHP / Paxon School for Advanced Studies, FL / 2023

Strong, thick frame. Simple approach with a quick short bat path and barrels up pitches consistently. Uses the hands and wrists and gets the barrel through the zone with little resistance.

 


Dominic Boeing SS / Indian Rocks Christian, FL / 2022

Athletic, lanky build. Made solid contact in both at-bats, singling on a sharp ground ball to left, and lining a ball to center. Smooth, solid defender at shortstop.

 


Braxton Brown 3B / 1B / Winter Haven, FL / 2024

Confident and aggressive in the box. Keeps the hands inside and the weight back and lets the bat head do the work. Uses the whole field and drives off the back side.

 


Noah Campbell SS / RHP / George Jenkins, FL / 2024

Lean athletic middle infielder. 2020 Rising Stars State Games participant continues to impress with his athleticism. Moves well defensively at short with soft hands. Shows a simple line drive swing from the left side. On the barrel all game long.

 


Donald Dwire OF / RHP / Mariner, FL / 2025

Physically advanced 2025 at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. Left handed hitters uses his frame to create leverage in his swing. Shows ability to use the whole field with a simple, line drive approach.

 


Sean Esquinaldo C / Wesley Chapel, FL / 2022

Strong, compact build. Displayed a short and powerful swing with a 2-run homerun in the first inning. Has a developed eye at the plate, working counts all day. Quality defensive catcher as well.

 


Nick Franklin SS / 3B / Springstead , FL / 2024

6-foot, 195 lbs. Physical 2024, some rotation in the swing but strength throughout plays producing above average bat speed launching a fly ball to deep LF for an easy 2 RBI standup 2B. 

 

 


Dylan Jordan SS / RHP / Viera, FL / 2024

6-foot-2, 170 lbs. Long, athletic arm action with arm side run at times. FB/CB combo produced 4 K’s thru 2 IP.

CB: 66-67

 

 


Cameron Kessell RHP / 1B / Home School , FL / 2025

6-foot-1, 220 lbs. 2021 Junior Future Games participant for Team Florida. Kessell’s barrel always seems to find the baseball every time he is given a look. Picking up two quick 1B’s early on.

 


Alexis Ocasio C / 3B / Ridge Community, FL / 2022

6-foot-1 186 pounds. Ocasio continues to find holes all day long, adding a line drive double to his multi-hit game. Consistently finds the barrel and has a disciplined approach at the plate. 

 


Alvin Pabon II 3B / 1B / Sandalwood, FL / 2023

Strong 5-foot-11, 215 pound frame. Pabon was a force in the middle of Fort Caroline’s lineup Friday. Short, compact swing as he sprays the ball to both fields with consistent hard contact. Multiple hits on the day showing the ability to turn the barrel. Uncommitted

 


Jorge Romero SS / Steinbrenner, FL / 2024

Young switch-hitting shortstop with big upside. Showed good bat to ball skills and displayed his power, driving a triple into the RF gap. Smooth defender with a plus arm at shortstop.

 


Neisser Sanchez C / 3B / Florida Christian , FL / 2023

Smooth actions both defensively and offensively from Sanchez. Large frame and moves well behind the dish. Creates some torque in the swing with some juice off the barrel.

 


Caleb Smith C / George Jenkins, FL / 2024

Smith is an advanced catcher for a 2024. Soft hands receiving, quick out the crouch with a strong arm. Threw out one base stealer Friday. Has a chance to be an above average catcher.

 


Andrew Spahn C / Palmetto, FL / 2024

Stocky frame and short arm action. The fastball had some life through the zone as he was 80-83 and struck out a pair in the first. Low spin with the late life, should make a jump as he learns to get down the mound more.

 


Hunter Vann C / 3B / Suwannee, FL / 2023

Loose, active load from Vann with good finish. Gets the hands back and turns on pitches well. Uses the backside and keeps the posture through contact.

 


Peter Walsh SS / RHP / Santa Fe Catholic, FL / 2022

6-foot, 160 lbs. Walsh showed some bat speed with a level bat path. Short compact swing and ability to pull.

 


Logan Wilson 3B / RHP / Dixie Heights , KY / 2022

6-foot, 185 lbs. Wilson was dominant coming in and closing the door. Worked up tempo with a quick/athletic arm striking out 2 over 1 IP. Was 90 mph for the majority of the outing.

CB: 78-79

 

 

 


Trevor Zeigler RHP / SS / West Clermont , OH / 2023

6-foot-1, 185 lbs. Zeigler has looked sharp picking up 6 K’s thru 2 IP. FB has shown late life low in the zone when released out front. Flashed breaking ball with sharp action for swing and miss.
