The Florida Underclass Games took place Wednesday, June 9th at John Euliano Park at UCF in Orlando, FL. The event featured players from  the 2023-2026 classes participating in a pro-style workout followed by gameplay in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

Player Analysis

Frank Avila SS / 2B / Gulliver Prep, FL / 2024

5-foot-6, 130-pound lean athletic build. Capable at the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. Started in an athletic tall stance with a slow controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is developing, shows a short upward swing plane and high finish. He found some barrels with some loud contact. Up the middle approach. Smooth while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 77 mph; shows athletic feet, soft sure hands, and a clean developing exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a short arm action and a ¾ slot. Clocked a time of 7.41 in the 60-yard dash.  


Grayson Black RHP / 2B / Palm Harbor University, FL / 2023

5-foot-9, 150-pound lean sturdy build. Capable at the plate, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph. Begins in a balanced tall stance with a smooth quick load, then uses a toe tap stride. Bat speed is efficient, displays a short level swing plane and level finish. He barreled up a few balls with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Capable in the infield, his best throw was registered at 74 mph; has choppy feet, a lengthy exchange, and consistent hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average. Using a long arm action, showed decent accuracy to the base from a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.82. On the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a long arm action while showing consistent arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. He has in line shoulders with an athletic balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 73-74 mph; has a straight fastball that shows consistent command and gradual action. (Max spin 1991; Avg 1881). Has a tight curveball (62-66) that showed glove side command and sweeping action. (Max spin 1891; Avg 1793).


Anders Chadwell 3B / RHP / Fleming Island, FL / 2023

6-foot, 165-pound mature solid frame. Solid at the plate, Chadwell had an exit velocity of 88 mph. (63.35 mph bat speed average). (21.11 mph hand speed average). Begins in an athletic stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a toe tap stride. Bat speed is average, displays a short rotational swing plane and high finish. Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Athletic while in the infield, made throws up to 71 mph; showed a quick clean exchange, sure soft hands, and athletic consistent feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a short arm action and a ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.81. Capable on the mound, used a ¾ arm angle and a short arm action while showing good arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. In his delivery his balance point is tall with in line shoulders. Lands soft with recoil finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 71-73 mph with a max of 74 mph; had arm side control and running action with tight movement. (Max spin 2063; Avg 1978). Had sweeping swing and miss action and consistent low in the zone control on his sharp curveball (61-64). (Max spin 1974; Avg 1966). Has fading late action and consistent command on his changeup (68-69). 


Carter Christy OF / RHP / Sickles , FL / 2023

5-foot-11, 150-pound athletic solid frame. Above average during batting practice, Christy had an exit velocity of 88 mph. Starts in an athletic crouched stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a leg kick stride. Bat speed was quick, had a short level swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Athletic from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 79 mph; has soft consistent hands, athletic rhythmic feet, and a clean natural exchange. Fielded the ball to the side with athletic movement laterally. Used a long arm action with a ¾ slot while showing decent accuracy to the bag. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.79.  


Adam Ciccone C / OF / Hagerty, FL / 2024

5-foot-9, 150-pound solid athletic frame. Solid at the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 86 mph. (60.79 mph bat speed average). (20.25 mph hand speed average). Starts in an athletic tall stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a short controlled stride. Has quick bat speed, short level swing plane and level finish. Through the round he found some barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Solid in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 78 mph; shows choppy feet, a packing fluid exchange, and consistent hands. Fields the ball to the side, movements laterally were average. While catching, he produced a position velocity of 71 mph during throw downs; had smooth footwork, soft hands, and a clean natural exchange. consistently had pop times of 2.08-2.15. Staggered setup with some flexibility. Used a ¾ slot with a long loose arm action while showing decent accuracy to the bag. Clocked a time of 7.47 in the 60-yard dash. 


Cooper Collins SS / 2B / Buchholz, FL / 2024

5-foot-10, 140-pound lean athletic build. Capable at the plate, Collins recorded an exit velocity of 83 mph. (57.19 mph bat speed average). (19.50 mph hand speed average). Begins in a crouched balanced stance with a slow compact load, then uses a short stride. Has an upward swing plane, efficient bat speed and high finish. He created some loud contact and found some barrels. Up the middle approach. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 77 mph; showed athletic rhythmic feet, soft consistent hands, and a quick clean exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a low ¾ slot and a short quick arm action. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.42.


Michael Escobar 2B / 3B / Gulliver Prep, FL / 2024

5-foot-9, 140-pound lean athletic frame. Capable during batting practice, Escobar had an exit velocity of 84 mph. (60.02 mph bat speed average). (22.79 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced crouched stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a short leg kick stride. Has average bat speed, short rotational swing plane and high finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Pull side line drive approach. Aidan Forrest 3B / RHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2025

6-foot-1, 165-pound athletic solid build. Above average during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 95 mph. (65.64 mph bat speed average). (20.76 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced crouched stance with a quick load, then uses a short controlled stride. Has above average bat speed, short level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Athletic above average while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 83 mph; had a quick clean exchange, athletic smooth footwork, and twitchy soft hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Used a short quick arm action with a ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Clocked a 60 time of 7.76 at the event.  


Jonah Friedman OF / 2B / Fleming Island , FL / 2024

5-foot-7, 150-pound lean athletic frame. Capable in the box, Friedman recorded an exit velocity of 83 mph. (60.61 mph bat speed average). (18.73 mph hand speed average). Began in an athletic stance with a slow load, then used a short small leg kick stride. Has an uphill swing plane, efficient bat speed and high finish. He found some barrels with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Smooth in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 78 mph; has a quick fluid exchange, consistent hands, and athletic feet. Fields the ball to the side, movements laterally were athletic. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a ¾ slot and a short quick arm action. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.47. Solid on the mound, used a sub arm angle and a long loose arm action while showing quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows decent effort. Showed consistent balance point with even shoulders. Lands closed with a clean finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 67-70 mph with a max of 72 mph; shows running action and command arm side in the zone with tight movement. (Max spin 1979; Avg 1896). Had very consistent control and fading action on his sharp changeup (65-66). 


Chase Gilligan 1B / 3B / Wiregrass Ranch, FL / 2023

5-foot-11, 195-pound athletic physical build. Above average during batting practice, the right-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 98 mph, Highest at the event. Started in an athletic crouched stance with a slow controlled load, then used a small leg kick stride. Has a short level swing plane, above average bat speed and high finish. Was able to create a lot of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap approach. Athletic in the infield, displayed a velocity of 79 mph; had a clean exchange, soft consistent hands, and athletic smooth footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot with a long loose arm action. Clocked a time of 7.33 in the 60-yard dash.  


Alan Hernandez 2B / SS / Olympic Heights, FL / 2024

5-foot-6, 140-pound lean athletic build. Above average during batting practice, Hernandez's best exit velocity was 85 mph. Starts in a balanced tall stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a small leg kick stride. Bat speed is above average, displays a short upward swing plane and high finish. Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap line drive approach. Smooth while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 71 mph; shows sure consistent hands, athletic smooth feet, and a quick fluid exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a short loose arm action and a ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.32.  


Michael Hough OF / RHP / Lake Placid, FL / 2026

5-foot-3, 93-pound lean frame. Capable in the box, the switch hitter clocked an exit velocity of 77 mph. (49.98 mph bat speed average). (18.62 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced tall stance with a smooth quick load, then used a toe tap stride. Has efficient bat speed, simple level swing plane and high finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Up the middle approach. Capable his best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 68 mph; shows consistent hands, choppy feet, and a clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average. Using a long arm action, showed decent accuracy to the base from a side slot. Clocked a time of 8.05 in the 60-yard dash. Capable on the mound, used a side arm angle and a short loose arm action while showing quick consistent arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Has an athletic balance point and even shoulders. Lands closed with recoil finish. Threw his fastball 68-69 mph; had arm side command and running action with tight movement. (Max spin 1931; Avg 1860). Had a sharp curveball (55-56) that showed sweeping swing and miss action and very consistent control. (Max spin 2140; Avg 2070). Throws a tight changeup (52-53) that shows consistent low in the zone control and fading action. 


Dylan Howell 3B / C / ESB Academy , FL / 2024

6-foot, 142-pound lean athletic build. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 85 mph. (61.60 mph bat speed average). (18.90 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced crouched stance with a quick controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is average, shows a short upward swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Pull side line drive approach. Above average while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 78 mph; had soft consistent hands, a clean natural exchange, and athletic rhythmic footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 75 mph during throw downs; showed a quick exchange, soft consistent hands, and athletic feet. produced pop times of 2.05-2.14. Staggered setup with tons of flexibility. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a ¾ slot and a short quick arm action. Clocked a time of 7.76 in the 60-yard dash.  


Marlon Huff 1B / 3B / Spanish River, FL / 2024

6-foot-2, 235-pound athletic solid frame. Solid during batting practice, Huff displayed an exit velocity of 96 mph, Ranks #3 with EV at the event. Began in a balanced tall stance with a quick load, then used a short toe tap stride. Bat speed is above average, exhibits a short level swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Up the middle line drive approach. Capable in the infield, displayed a velocity of 73 mph; shows a clean exchange, average feet, and sure consistent hands. Laterally, movements were average and fielded the ball out front. Had a low ¾ slot and a short arm action with decent accuracy to the bag. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.56.  


Atticus Huffstutler C / 3B / Lakewood , FL / 2024

6-foot-2, 170-pound athletic physical build. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 88 mph. Started in a tall athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a short small leg kick stride. Bat speed is average, exhibits a short level swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found some barrels with some loud contact. Up the middle line drive approach. While catching, his best recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 72 mph; has soft hands, a quick exchange, and smooth athletic feet. recorded a pop time of 2.02-2.13. Clean setup with some flexibility. Decent accuracy to the bases, used a long loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. Recorded a time of 7.94 in the 60-yard dash.


Logan Hughes 1B / OF / DeLand, FL / 2023

Stetson Commit, 5-foot-11, 193-pound athletic solid build. Above average in the box, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 95 mph. Starts in an athletic tall stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is above average, shows a short simple swing plane and high finish. He found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap line drive approach. Above average in the infield, his best throw was registered at 76 mph; had sure hands, athletic smooth footwork, and a quick clean exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Had a short arm action and a ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.32.  


Evan Jones RHP / OF / East Lake, FL / 2023

5-foot-10, 145-pound. Had a long quick arm action and a high ¾ slot with some accuracy to the bag. Raw on the mound, showed quick arm speed, he had a long quick arm action with a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows max effort. Showed athletic balance point with downhill shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 76-80 mph and topped out at 82 mph; has a heavy fastball that shows occasional command and tailing action. (Max spin 2127; Avg 1703). Has occasional command and sweeping tight action on his sharp curveball (67-68). (Max spin 2374; Avg 2175). 


Jacob Kelvington LHP / OF / Edgewater, FL / 2023

5-foot-9, 165-pound athletic build. Solid during batting practice, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 91 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled tight load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is efficient, has a level swing plane and level finish. He found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Pull side up the middle approach. Capable in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 83 mph; showed firm hands, a natural exchange, and athletic quick feet. Fielded the ball one hand with athletic movement laterally. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action with a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.11. On the mound, showed some arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a short loose arm action. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and uses easy effort. Showed tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands closed with upright finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 76-80 mph and topped out at 81 mph; had running action and command in the zone. (Max spin 2066; Avg 1952). Using a long quick arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the bag from a high ¾ slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.28. Capable on the mound, showing quick arm speed he used a long arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Tilt-and-topple type pitcher and uses high effort. He has even shoulders and an athletic balance point. Lands closed with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 74-77 mph and topped out at 79 mph; shows running action and command low in the zone. (Max spin 1898; Avg 1690). Jackson Leggett Walford LHP / Palm Harbor University, FL / 2024

5-foot-7, 135-pound. At the plate, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 83 mph. Began in a closed athletic stance with a tight load, then used a toe tap stride. Bat speed was some, showed a level uphill swing plane and high finish. Pull side up the middle approach. Capable recorded an outfield position velocity of 76 mph; has soft hands, athletic feet, and a natural exchange. One hand fielding mechanics. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a long arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.99. Capable on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action. Tall-and-fall type pitcher who uses decent effort. Tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands square with upright recoil finish. Sat with his fastball at 76-77 mph with a max of 78 mph; had control in the zone and some running action. (Max spin 2411; Avg 2351). Threw a 1/7 curveball (65-67) with some action and occasional control. (Max spin 2223; Avg 2194). 


Jake Malec RHP / 1B / Bartram Trail, FL / 2023

6-foot-3, 190-pound. Raw on the mound, using a short arm action he showed some arm speed from a high ¾ arm angle. Tilt-and-topple type pitcher and shows max effort. Showed athletic consistent balance point with uphill shoulders. Lands square with upright finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 80-82 mph and topped out at 83 mph; shows running some action and control in the zone arm side. (Max spin 2035; Avg 1921). Shows some action on his 11/5 curveball (65-66). (Max spin 2284; Avg 2254). 


Branson Mann OF / 2B / Columbia, FL / 2024

5-foot-9, 155-pound athletic build. Confident in the box, Mann's best exit velocity was 84 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a tight arm bar load, then uses a quick short stride. Had a level uphill swing plane, quick bat speed and a back foot finish. During his round he produced some loud contact and found some barrels. Up the middle line drive approach. Capable in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 73 mph; has a natural packing exchange, rhythmic feet, and sure hands. Capable recorded an outfield position velocity of 79 mph; had a natural packing exchange, quick consistent footwork, and soft hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball one hand. Used a quick loose arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.26.  


Jacob McKenzie C / 3B / Winter Springs, FL / 2023

5-foot-10, 180-pound athletic build. Above average in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 91 mph. Started in a tall balanced stance with an arm bar low load, then used a leg kick stride. Bat speed was efficient quick, had a level upward swing plane and a back foot finish. He found multiple barrels with loud contact. Up the middle pull side approach. While catching, his best position velocity throwing to second was registered at 76 mph; shows consistent rhythmic feet, a natural exchange, and soft hands. displayed his ability to control the run game with a pop time of 1.96-2.08. Above average flexibility and flexible setup. Used a short loose arm action with an-over-the-top slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.69.  


Zach Merriman OF / SS / Sunlake , FL / 2024

5-foot-11, 159-pound lean athletic frame. Athletic in the box, Merriman's best exit velocity was 93 mph. Began in a balanced open stance with a quick arm bar load, then used a short toe tap stride. Bat speed is above average, shows a short rotational swing plane and level finish. He barreled up lots of balls with a lot of loud contact. Pull side line drive approach. Athletic above average from the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 86 mph; had a quick natural exchange, sure hands, and athletic footwork. Fielded the ball to the side with athletic movement laterally. From a ¾ slot, showed decent accuracy to the bag with a long arm action. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.59. 


Hayden Montanez SS / OF / Winter Park, FL / 2025

5-foot-7, 125-pound athletic build. Confident during batting practice, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 80 mph. Starts in a tall open stance with an arm bar wrapping load, then uses a leg kick short stride. Bat speed is efficient, exhibits a level upward swing plane and a back foot finish. Found some barrels through his round. Gap to gap approach. Capable in the infield, his best throw was registered at 68 mph; shows quick choppy feet, a natural packing exchange, and soft hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a quick loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.52.  


Eduardo Morales C / OF / Broward Virtual, FL / 2023

5-foot-9, 175-pound solid physical build. Solid during batting practice, Morales best exit velocity was 88 mph. (59.63 mph bat speed average). (16.90 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced stance with an arm bar low load, then used a toe tap stride. Bat speed was efficient, used an uphill swing plane and high front foot finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. While catching, throw downs to second topped out at 73 mph; had sure hands, a quick exchange, and fluid consistent footwork. recorded a pop time of 2.01-2.09. Had staggered setup. Had a short arm action and an-over-the-top slot with consistent accuracy to the base. Clocked a 60 time of 7.96 at the event.  


Anthony Paradiso SS / RHP / Florida Virtual, FL / 2024

5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic frame. Athletic at the plate, Paradiso recorded an exit velocity of 88 mph. Started in a tall closed stance with a high low load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is quick, exhibits a short long swing plane and high finish. He barreled up some balls with some loud contact. Up the middle line drive approach. Evan Peerless C / 2B / Bloomingdale , FL / 2024

5-foot-6, 161-pound. Capable at the plate, Peerless clocked an exit velocity of 83 mph. Began in a balanced stance with an arm bar wrapping load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is average, uses a level swing plane and level finish. Found some barrels through his rounds. Gap to gap approach. Ledger Pleasant SS / RHP / Eustis, FL / 2024

5-foot-10, 155-pound lean build. Athletic during batting practice, Pleasant's best exit velocity was 86 mph. Begins in a balanced stance with a low load, then uses a toe tap stride. Bat speed is some, exhibits a level swing plane and level finish. He found some barrels during his rounds. Up the middle line drive approach. Athletic in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 73 mph; has soft hands, choppy quick feet, and a quick exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. From a high ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a short arm action. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.63. Confident on the mound, showed quick consistent arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle and a short quick arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows max effort. Has an athletic consistent balance point with even shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish.
